“Literally airport adjacent in a neat building that looks like a medieval castle. Interesting space, some street parking. Big outdoor courtyard. Friendly service. Dozen taps. IPA focused. Seems like a fun place and it's practically at the airport.“

“First of all, the name change to trustworthy is complete. Small place, industrial neighborhood, street parking. Long skinny space, bar in back, tables tucked between stacked metal barrels. Not crowded at 4 on a Thursday. Good service, cans, bottles and growlers to go. A dozen taps running. Ipa was so so, bba stout was pretty solid. Prices damn high.“

“In the door a few minutes after four, their stated opening time, on the first Monday of June 2017. Already a good 10 people in here all with drinks already, one finishing off a pint and having picked up a growler. Calm and cool space, ten beers on tap. Flights of 4 at $10, or single 5oz for $3. Pinst are $6, with a few being 14 ounce pours instead. Free peanuts. Food menu as well, with fries, pizzas, burgers. I was still way too full from lunch a couple hours earlier, and was meeting up with my cousin for dinner after, so I skipped the food and the peanuts. Beers were good, crowd seemed to be full of locals, a couple of families. “

“(Visited 07/2015): Tony’s Darts Away is located in downtown Burbank on West Magnolia between Reese and Orchard. Street parking is available in the surrounding area.

There is a small patio in front. Inside opens to a dimly lit space with the bar running along the right side with chair-style barstools, and table seating along the left. A duct runs along the length of the ceiling adorned with brewery stickers. Behind the bar the tap handles are visible, and there are a couple TVs too. A sign hangs over the bar pointing people not sitting there where to order.

As for the beers, there are around 40 taps with many CA breweries represented such as Lengthwise, Tap It, Cismontane, Enegrin and Kinetic. They also had a house beer (Darts Away IPA) from Golden Road. Flights are available.

Service on a weekday afternoon was fine. We were seated on the patio so ordering was done at the bar. The bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable on my trips up there.

Food at Tony’s is vegetarian, and our lunches and dessert were enjoyable.

Overall this is a hip and divey-in-a-good way spot that I would definitely visit again.“

“For a restaurant a very impressive beer list, mainly Californian micros, many of which I had never sampled. Not cheap but quality both food and beer excellent. I have added this venue to Ratebeer as my friends and I all agree beers here were the best in Downtown. Situated in the heart of Downtown, on the corner of E.Palm Ave and San Fernando Blvd. The restaurant has two large dining rooms (one has the bar with all the taps) and there is a patio area too. I imagine one can come here just for a drink.“

“This place exceeded my expectations! Good service, comfortable seating areas, good choice and quality beers (their brand and other breweries) and reasonable pricing. Better than most bars in Burbank! Only downside was the pizza was very dry and too much pastry.“

“I have been to other bars of this chain but I never came across such poor beer in those as here! The IPA was anything but (possibly more hops in a bud!) And the Blonde Bock was like a home brew gone wrong... the worst beer on my visit to the USA! Staff would not leave us alone until they realised we were there just for drinks, then disappeared after depositing this rubbish on us, probably expecting us to send it back!“

“Could not get near the bar as the few seats there were taken so had to sit at a table away from the bar and order from a menu that was out of date so only stayed for one. Music too loud, could hardly have a conversation. The waitress did not know much about beer. On my second visit we sat outside watching the world go by and was quite pleasant. But beer list is a bit limiting.“

“Cool dive-bar on the bar side. A bit more hipster in the table area. All service is get your ass up to the bar and order from the bartender. Quit being so goddamn lazy. Flights of 4 beers for $10 (price increases by a $1 for each beer not typically served in a pint). Real pints. Expensive, but not as bad some of the other places in the LA area. Nice tap list featuring only CA beers. Did not try the food but it smelled pretty good!“

“Neighborhood-style bar with a good selection. Lots of locals. About 1/3 IPAs, 2/3 everything else. The IPAs were mostly standard fare from large craft brewers: Bear Republic, Firestone, etc. Few surprises or rarities. Bartenders know there stuff, are helpful with both knowledge and sample pours. Comfortable place to sit and talk. Quiet crowd. Nice spot.“

“Great find while working up here in Burbank. Bartenders were great and my sandwich was delicious. It was busy but I still got attention when my glass was empty. This place embodies the perfect West Coast IPA bar. Some tables were playing board games and a lot of people were cooing over the Alpine Nelson IPA. I felt right at home. Thank you!“

Not sure how many of these there are but I’ve been to this one and the one in Pasadena and I know I’ve seen one in Hollywood. They are more or less cookie cutter where they have a pile of taps but most of them are crap. Newcastle, Harp, Guinness, Bud, etc. Also mixed in are some of the usual non-macros like Sierra Nevada, Rogue, and Bear Republic but out of the 3 dozen taps I could count the good choices on one hand. This isn’t a place you go for a great beer selection but it is a fun place to hang out with friends or to watch the game. I was surprised to see some Niners jerseys. Lots of stuff on the walls and lots of people packed in around the bar to watch the game. If that’s not your thing they have some tables outside. I didn’t eat since I had just come from Link-n-Hops but I wouldn’t mind eating here next time, if there is a next time. Also, there is a free parking lot on both sides of the mall that this is in so parking doesn’t have to be a nightmare. Prices are high and the food portions are large.“

I didn’t realize until I got there but this is across the street from Gordon Biersch. Also, behind the Gordon Biersch is a small public parking lot. Parking isn’t exactly easy in Burbank but if you avoid trying to park on the street it isn’t bad, even during playoff season. Story Tavern seems a bit divey for something on San Fernando which is a pedestrian mall of sorts. Not run down or anything but kind of British looking without many decorations, no windows, and some quiet regulars.

That said the tap list is pretty decent. Stone Double Bastard and Old Guardian, Ommegang Adoration, Hebrew Jewbelation, Sierra Celebration, North Coast Old Stock and Grand Cru, AleSmith YuleSmith, Anchor OSA, Nice Chouffe, and a few more. The service was also very good. Immediately upon entering a guy came up to me and told me that unfortunately they were out of my beer. I was confused but then remembered that I was wearing a Yeti shirt. We got to talking about Great Divide and how the Broncos were beating the crap out of the Chargers (I guess LA folk are Chargers fans). I think I like it here. It’s a bit of a break from the high society that is Glendale/Burbank. My problem is the pricing which hovers around $8 per glass. Ugh.“

BJ’s restaurants are always set up nicely and usually in nice areas but this takes it to a whole other level. First off the entire parking lot behind the restaurant is valet only and I saw a number of expensive Mercedes parked out front. There is a shared parking lot next door and only the second floor of that is free to park in. Inside is kind of odd since there are two bars, only one of which was being used. That one has all the house beers prominently displayed as well as some guest beers. The other bar had all the bar stools leaned against it and for what ever reason didn’t have the signs showing for the house beers. It looked more like a serving area than a bar but there were taps and bar stools, so who knows. On a quiet Sunday afternoon the hostesses were more than happy to offer me a table, which I turned down in favor of the bar. The servers were nice, despite the fact that I was driving a $3000 (at best) Pontiac and wearing a heavy metal tshirt and not dressed up in a bunch of gold chains and stinking of cologne.

I certainly wouldn’t drive from Riverside to Burbank for this but it is right off the freeway so if I needed a burger on my way to/from somewhere and I wanted to spend $12 for that privilege there are worse places to be. Actually, the saving grace is the beer prices, and the fact that they were advertising their new DIPA that is coming soon.“

“Visited November 24, 2013.

This is actually my second stop here. I stopped once long ago to pick up some crazy bastard named Getkrunkhoe to go down to SD and hit up Toronado for their first anniversary party. I spent 13 hours driving that day. It was a memorial day and I had to first drive out to drop off some resumes, then drive from La Verne to Burbank to pick this clown up, then down to Orange to pick up my brother (while stopping at McMaster on the way for some parts for a school project), then all the way to SD. After the night it was back to Orange then back to Burbank (actually Sunland to drop him off at home), then back to La Verne. Yeah. That sucked. Also, I can’t remember but that may have been the day that I drove to the Bruery (right around their 1st anniversary) to pick up all my barrel aged Papier bottles. So based on the fact that I had already sat in 4 hours of holiday traffic I was kind of irritated by this point and wanted to give this place a low score for having a lame selection but back then I wasn’t rating places quite so diligently.

Yesterday was a different experience though I did have to fight with all the Mercedes SUVs in the parking lot to find a spot. It turns out that there are some 20 minute Bevmo-only spots right in front if you know what you want and aren’t there for the beer tasting. Even if you don’t know what you want there isn’t a ton to pick from. They have one set of shelves (both sides) dedicated to beer and a couple of fridge doors. One side of those shelves is all the same import stuff that every Bevmo has (the lame UK stuff and the same 30 Belgians and Germans) and some CA stuff that you can get anywhere (Stone, AleSmith, Ballast Point, etc). Even for Bevmo standards this is pretty unimaginative. Prices are reasonable if not good. Service was non-existent though I did spot at least three employees, two of which were on break.

Bevmo is Bevmo but if you hate malls as much as I do avoid this place. .“

“This place is small with very limited seating. Divey inside with a tiny patio. There is no parking so you have to park on the street in the residential neighborhood around the bar. There is no table service, so you have to order at the "order here" spot at the bar and carry your beverages to the table. This can be a real challenge if you have a group and choose to sit at the outside patio. If you order food, you get a number card and they bring the food to your table. The beer selection is all on tap and all from California. The beer menu is divided into IPA and "Other." You can order a flight of sample-sized beers. Limited food choices are mostly vegan and non-vegan sausages on rolls with various toppings. The home-made potato chips were tasty.“

“Visited while dropping a friend off at the airport. Like all Gordon Biersch locations it’s actually a pretty nice place. Good looking decor, fancy tap set up, and (mostly) good service. The beers are better than people give them credit for, or at least the German ones are, the IPAs arent very good. The one non-standard (chain recipe) beer they had was a hoppy pils, which was kind of meh. The burger was good. Prices weren’t bad on the beer but were fairly high on the food.“

“Find street parking in the neighborhoods surrounding the bar. Local, semi-dive bar vibe. They do have a full menu, but there are no servers; which got annoying since we had to go back and stand in line at the bar for 1) waters, 2) cutlery, 3) and beer after having already ordered our food. Expect a lot of artisanal bratwurst/sausages. Quality of this type of food was good but inferior to Wurstkuche, which is also a brat and beer place. Servers were friendly though and the beer list was exceptional with special one-offs from Ballast Point and a Golden Road tap take over. Other selections were top notch. There is a patio and then inside there is limited seating. The seating is first come, first serve; which makes it difficult if you wanted to eat and drink.

So major qualm is that they have a full menu but not the wait staff to allow one to use it.

Side note, they have board games!“

“Not too far from my hotel. The non-refrigerated bottle selection was pretty good; however, the refrigerated selection just plain sucked. I found a few beers in these parts that I can’t find in Seattle, so that was the saving grace. The store was your typical corporate-run operation. It’s in a fairly busy shopping center. Plus, on my walk back to the Marriott, I spotted a 24 Hour Fitness; now, I can exercise and drink, just need the fiancée to complete the circle. Again, this store will satisfy you in a pinch, but don’t expect anything mind-blowing. Price wise, I haven’t figured out what is reasonable in California, but when compared to the prices I pay in Seattle, it seemed equivalent, maybe even a touch more expensive. Cheers.“

“Stopped in on a Sunday night and it was surprisingly busy. Love the concept- all California, all taps. We didn’t eat but the sausage-heavy, vegan-friendly food concept is cool, too. Prices were about $6-$7 for most things, which meant some beers were overpriced and some were good deals. Atmosphere was cool, and remoded me of many non-craft bars in the Midwest. Took a while to get served and they didn’t have a clean snifter for what I ordered so I got a slightly smaller pour than I should have. Bartender seemed to be paying more attention to familiar faces, which was just about to piss us off because we came in and followed the "Order Here" sign. Overall, cool place and great concept. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.“

“Stopped in on a flight to Burbank based on the recommendations, and boy is it worth the visit! 38 taps, rotating on an almost daily basis (and updated on a daily basis on their website too!) Friendly service. Did not try the food, but everything else just rocks. It is worth noting that all of their taps are California beers, but what a variety is possible with CA beers as your focus. They will also do 4oz flights of any beer that they sell in pints 4 for $9, which is a great way to rack up some ratings. A winner.“

“I went here back in March with my lovely Rita on our long-awaited LA trip. This place was definitely a highlight of the trip. We arrived at maybe 9:30 on a Thursday night and it was pretty crowded, as in zero empty seats crowded. The space itself is nothing fancy or condescending, just wood walls with lots of breweriana and even a beer library. We walked the length of the small place a couple times making sure we weren’t missing an open spot or 2, all the seats were taken. We were about to leave and try a different night when a couple at the bar got up and left. YESSS!!! If only we could always have such luck! We were quickly seen by the bartender, despite the crowd. The beer menu is divided into 2 sections: IPAs and Other. Definitely my kind of place. Everything is draft, it’s all from California, and it’s all awesome, including the 20 or so IPAs. Yes, Pliny was on when I was there, which is a huge treat in itself. Lots of stuff from breweries I hadn’t heard of and apparently some one-offs as well. In addition to Pliny and some other things, I had a sour from Drake’s Brewing called Hyperion that, at the time, wasn’t even listed on RateBeer or BeerAdvocate. I wish I would’ve taken notes and reviewed that too, but it was pretty unique and reminded me a bit of Boulevard Love Child #2 or New Glarus Enigma. I loved it and wish I could’ve brought back a growler. The food menu is small and revolves around sausage-based fare, which is perfect for this place if you ask me. What’s more, they have Vegan versions of every sausage and they cook the Vegan food on dedicated Vegan cookware. My girlfriend, who is vegetarian, loved this of course. My meat sausage was very good, and her vegan one was probably the best vegan meat substitute I’ve ever tried. This is such an awesome place. I wish we would’ve gone every day we were in LA. My girlfriend and I talk about it at least weekly still. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in L.A.“

“(Visited 12/2011): This Bevmo! location is in Burbank right off the 5 on Victory Pl in the shopping plaza. They have a parking lot next to the store. The inside is similar to other locations. The beer is located on shelves on the left side of the store. Beers are segmented regionally (USA and then by import country/region). Several hundred bottles are available with a lot of West coast breweries represented like Alesmith, Stone, Rogue, Bear Republic, Lagunitas plus many of the smaller microbreweries like Drake’s and Bootleggers. Service is pretty typical for a store like this. I was greeted and asked if I was looking for anything in particular, and checkout was friendly. Overall this location didn’t quite stack up to others but it is hard not to walk out without a box full of beer regardless. Worth stopping for beer lovers in Burbank.“

“Had to, had to, HAD TO stop by this place when in the area back in March of this year. This was my #1 stop on our quick trip to the area. I now wish I would have gone everyday. Really cool looking building from the outside, but smaller than I thought. As others have noted, the parking is free on the street. We parked about half a block away which was nice. Nice bar that seats maybe 15-20 people. Small tables scattered throughout. A lone pool table and a lone dart board in the back. For having "Darts" in the name, I figured there would be more dart boards available. Ah well, it was free so we played for about an hour. Their tap list was nothing short of amazing. All beers are from CA, and half of them (about 20) are IPAs. I’m in heaven. The service was excellent. Friendly, but not overly so. Got our drinks quickly and in the correct glassware, which is always a bonus. We just missed Pliny, which was my biggest disappointment from our trip, but it was a small price to pay for such an awesome establishment. Were I a local, I would hit this place up constantly. A bar any city would be proud to have.“

“Was in the area to get something for my flight home that night, and decided to stop in here to check out the famous BevMo!. The beer section was on the left side of the store. There were racks in the aisles with various sixpacks and cases. They had a massive selection of local brews, as well as a good selection of the nationally available ones. I would compare this to our local Total Wines, but I think this has a better selection. The prices were standard for the area. Man, how I wish NC liquor laws would allow us to have stores like this. On the far right of the store there was even a nice selection of glassware available. Cool store.“

“Stopped by here twice when I was in the area back in March of this year. Sat at the bar both times. A good oval-shaped bar with a good number of TVs nearby showing various sporting events. The standard offerings from GB were available, as well as a few seasonals. The service was pretty bad though. Both times we went, there was 1 person working the bar, and both times the bar was full (15-20 people). That seems disproportionate, but maybe that’s just me. We waited a good bit, even after trying to flag the guy down. Oh well, what it lacked it poor service, it made up for in quality beer. I really enjoyed the Schwarzbier especially, and wish they would bottle it. A cool place I would revisit, but they need to pick up the quality of service a bit.“

“what can i say..theres something endearing about a place that looks like a cozy dive bar that has one of the best selections in the state of california. The IPA selection is staggering, with at least half the draft selection in dedication to worshipping hops. Be warned: when it gets busy, service can be a little frantic and scarce, but its worth the wait.“
