I heard about a brewery way out in Brawley / El Centro so I took the opportunity to take I-8 out to AZ. It’s a nice drive down the west side of the Salton Sea and then along I-8 through the Imperial dunes. Holtville is a little hole in the wall place though with a population of about 5000. Surprisingly there’s at least one brewery in planning down the road in El Centro and these guys (Humble Farmer) are planning a satellite tasting room there as well.

I got there 5 minutes before opening but luckily the door was open since it was 106 degrees F outside. It’s a small tasting bar right next to the brew house. 11 taps including several seasonals. The beers are all brewed on a small 3 bbl system and from the taste of it probably not temperature controlled all that well. All the beers are murky and had some apple-y. Prices are a little high and they do carry growlers and lots of merchandise. The bathroom is full of hop vines (fake) so that’s neat.

The bartender and the brewer were friendly and helpful and I enjoyed my time here, but I would not make the trip way out here just for this. That said, its not far from El Centro if you’re heading to/from Mexicali, or you’re traveling on I-8.“
