“I used to come here in the mid 90’s before the craft beer explosion. It was good then and it is still good. The beers we had were all quite tasty. Our hamburger was also good. Service was slow.“

“Lots of seating and outdoor seating. Lots of different beer selections on tap and some ciders and wines. Great food selection, the fish and chips and the burger were amazing. Decent beer prices and $4 tap Tuesdays. Good service. Would come again for sure.“

“Hit this spot with the RB crew. Something of an old-school US brewpub. Pretty good beers overall. Fairly efficient service. Nice range of beers on offer, available in taster pours and at good prices. Not a must-visit, but worth scooping if you are nearby.“

“Stopped here on the way up to Sonoma. In sort of a shopping center not far off of 101. If you’re coming here on a weekend, be aware that parking can be tough.

Pretty large location between the bar, dining area, and patio seating. So, you shouldn’t have a problem getting a place to sit.

A lot of the beers here are sort of you average brewpub beers from a decade ago, but they do some newer styles, collaborations, and semi-interesting things, so you should be able to find something good. And you can do samplers, so that’s always appreciated.

Fine enough place, though certainly a bit on the dated side compared to other places in the Bay Area.“

“Dropped by on a Friday lunchtime. Nice clean brewpub in a sort of mini mall just on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge. Decent brewpub food menu, lots of pub classics. Beers are average brewpub offerings, couple of decent hoppy beers, samples of everything. Prices are reasonable and service is efficient if not particularly knowledgeable.“

“Large, comfortable brewpub that felt as if it hadn’t seen much of a face lift since the 1990s. My party sat at the bar and received pretty prompt, kind service. There were roughly 12 beers on tap in addition to a couple of bottles. Marin’s beers were generally solid with a couple of stinkers (the squid ink gose is still giving me nightmares). Prices were decent and taster pours were available. This isn’t a destination brewpub, but it’s easily accessible from 101 and worth a stop.“

“Big, old school brewpub with solid beers. A few misses as well though. Big selection of guest beers on draft available in samplers/flight. Bit crowded when we were there on a Friday night (which is to be expected). Prices were fair, service quick and attentive. Don’t really care for the interior in this kind of places, but nothing else is to be expected.“

“Large brewpub near the ferry a short drive outside of San Fran. They had a decent range of beers on tap. Service was pretty good as was the food. If you’re road tripping make sure to grab some ticks.“

“A cool brewpub with a nice atmosphere on the way up from San Francisco to Santa Rosa. The draft list was good (there were 11 beers on tap), as was the service. I didn’t eat, but food was available. Worth a stop on a trip, but not a destination in and of itself.“

“Cycled here from San Fransisco - nice cycle ride which is mostly off road or on quiet roads. The brewery has a large seating area, both inside and outside. 9 own beers on tap, all of which can be served as 4oz samples. They also have some bottles to drink in or take away. Food service was quick and we had decent tasty burgers.“

“Dine here several nights a week whilst working a project. Certainly not a beer-centric restaurant, but a very well chosen rotating tap board (usually always have an Almanac selection, as well as 4 others from the smaller NorCal brewers). There is usually 1 lager/pilsener, 1 IPA, 1 DIPA, and then 2 of varying style on the list. Bottle selection is good as well. Wine list includes 7-8 tap wines and a very, very good bottle list if that’s your thing. The food is the star here. Very fresh, local ingredients sourced from around Northern california and an ever-changing menu. Not a light dent in the wallet by any stretch (nice to be on expense if dining here), but very much worth a stop if you’re in Larkspur.“

“Spending 3-4 nights a week at the Courtyard across the street means I end up @ MBC most nights for a nightcap (or 2). Standard brewpub interior, with a large outdoor seating area. I’m territorially fond of the place since we spend a lot of time here, but as I’ve said to Theisti, their beers, while good and well-made, aren’t overly special and the list is often fairly short. Food is standard bar fare, and the SPinach salad, replete with fresh bacon is a personal favorite that I probably eat 3X/week. If you’re in Marin, there’s absolutely no reason you shouldn’t go here.“

“It’s nice to sit in the shadow on the patio, sampling some fine beers and just relaxing. Nice interior as well, and the beers were mostly fine. The peach beer was rather unpleasant though, way too artificial. Certainly a place worth a stop on the way from SF to Santa Rosa.“

“Been back a few times since like for RBSG 2009, a few random stops on the way to Russian River, and even a ferry trip across the bay but here is an old rating from my first trip:

We stopped here on the way home from Russian River. The place is pretty easy to find and there is lots of parking outside. The waiter showed up right away and got the drink orders. We didn’t order any food or even look at the menu because we had just had dinner at Russian River. We ordered a sampler and split that.

I was surprised that there was only 8 beers in the sampler. The laminated card that they put the sampler on had at least a dozen beers on it. In any case, the Hoppy Holidaze was awesome and the IPA was good too. The prices were reasonable and the place was nice and comfortable. I would go here again.“

“Stopped her heading back down to SF and just after hitting Moylan’s. Similar feel, chain family restaurant that brews beer, but this had more feel and character as it fit the area more. Busy, but got a seat at the bar. Bartender was attentive and answered questions. Had a few samples that were solid with more variety than Moylan’s. Food looked decent, but we opted to not eat here. Prices were good on draft and bottles to go were quite cheap. Good stop and would go again if in the area.“

“Stopped in here with my wife on our way from SF to my cousin’s place in Martinez. Located in the middle of the Larkspur Landing shopping center, it was a little hard to find. The inside was cool. Lots of drawings from patrons and old MBC stuff lined the wood walls. There were 8 beers on when I was there. Samplers can feature any amount of 4 oz. pours you want. The price was fine and service was friendly and well-staffed. We didn’t eat or look at a menu. Bombers were available for consumption there or to go; to go prices were $4-$9.50 depending on the beer. Beers were excellent. This place and its beers fly under the radar and that’s all right with me. Great stuff. Re-Rate: All but 1 of the beers on tap on my second visit were different than the first time, which was cool. But the level of quality was a bit lower; I couldn’t tell whether this was just the beers themselves or if the across-the-board quality had gone down. Probably the former. I don’t know. But I overrated it just a touch my first time around. Still a fun place, dated in both charming and less charming ways.“

“Stopped here for a quick beer or two. Really cool brewpub with a big bar and lots of tables. Sat at the bar and service was great. Selection of beer was great, they had some draft only beers that were amazing. Didn’t eat. Value on beers was right on par. This is a great place, I’d go back for sure.“

“This is probably my favorite brewpub in the San Francisco area. Located in the upscale outdoor mall of Larkspur, it’s a bit out of the way but worth the trip. The beers are absolutely first class. Pretty much everything they make is at least above average. The white knuckle, breakout stout, IPA, are all world class. The food is pretty good too. It has a nice bar and plenty of seating. The service has always been good. There is usually at least two or three special beers on tap and they run good happy hours specials as well. Not super exciting, but you can’t beat this place for the quality, especially if you’re like me and love visiting brewpubs where they make their beer on site. A must stop when in San Francisco“

“(Visited 01/2011): Marin Brewing is located in Larkspur in the Larkspur Landing Shopping Center off Sir Francis Drake Blvd. Private lots are abundant all around the shopping center but the place is perpetually busy. The interior is fairly spacious, with the bar area separated from the dining space. There is an area for groups as well. TVs behind the bar, and dartboards as well. Marin’s beer selection is pretty good. They have around 10-12 of their beers on tap, and offer samples. The beers range in style from standard fare like a Blonde, IPA, Amber etc, plus some more unique offerings like Hoppy Holidaze, and unfiltered APA and a Barley Wine. All of the beers are decent, with a couple being pretty good. Service on a weekday dinner at the bar was good. The bartender was efficient with service and knew their beers well. Our food was good, no complaints there. All in all this is a decent beer spot for the area. I doubt I would consider it a "must-visit" for a San Francisco visit but considering it was in walking distance from our hotel I was happy.“

“I always think of Marin as the little step brother of the much better Moylans just up the road a stretch in Novato. Marina beers are solid if not amazing although that white knuckle is incredible and the Stinson beach peach is surprisingly delicious. A good place but not a superstar.“

“Came here once after a baseball game in Marin. As a side note, I quit baseball after I realized it was getting in my way of ticking beers. Anyway, this was a case where it enabled me to tick beers. I was here early on a Saturday night for food and dinner. I had a sampler, including White Knuckle on tap which is always awesome. The beers here are good but not great on the whole. They have some crappy fruity wheats, pale ales and IPAs, and special Belgian style ales, DIPAs, and the like. Other than White Knuckle, Breakout Stout is also excellent, along with some of the special brews. The service is above average (could be more knowledgeable about the beer). The food is also more or less above average. Good for bar food, but not great. A nice place overall. Decent outside seating area and some good brews, if nothing exceptional.“

“I was a bit wasted to fully enjoy my stay here, but what I did glimpse between blurs was quite nice. Big place, it seemed, with indoor and outside seating. Long bar which seemed to have some nice stuff on tap and bottles, but I just sipped others. In any event, want to come back for some reason and experience more.“

“Brewpub is located in a mall type area in Larkspur, relatively easy to find. Atmosphere is typical brewpub, service was pretty good. Had some garlic fries, which were far too saturated in garlic for my tastes. Tap selection was pretty lame, a few things I’d had before and some wheat type beers I had no interest in. Was extremely disappointed at the lack of White Knuckle in either tap or bottle form. Had a pint of Point Reyes Porter and it was tasty enough and at 4 bucks not too spendy. All in all, the place was okay I guess, nothing really to write home about.“

“A pretty cool place with a nice local feel, and you have to walk past the open brewing equipment and stacks of bottle cases to get in. Not a huge selection, but had a few tap only beers including a great cask IPA and unfiltered pale ale, and White Knuckle fresh on tap is something to behold. The bartender was warm and welcoming, though the bar was already packed around noon on a thursday. Tons of memorabilia decorated the walls, including more steins than you can shake a stick at. I would stop on again just to get White Knuckle at the source for cheaper than bottled at the store, but hey, thats just me.“

“This place is always busy, even Saturday afternoon, the first dry Saturday in weeks!! Kitchen is quick with food. 10 of their own brews are on tap and fair amount of bottles to go. Waitress for pretty awesome considering she seemed to be the only waitress, including the patio area. A little strange, but they put the onions, lettuce and tomato under the burger, not in it. Burger was wonderfully rare and juicy, like I like them. Bacon was crisp.“

“Arne makes some of the best beers in the Bay Area, but he is too often over shadowed by Russian River. He has won tons of awards at both the GABF and the World Beer Cup. The pub is definitely fun. There are a couple dart boards in the back, decent pub food, good patio for those sunny days.“

“Stopped by here last night (Friday) after work, since it wasn’t but 5-7 minutes off of I-580 in a little plaza. It seems that they do pretty good business on the weekends, as there was no room at the bar. However, opposite the bar they have some barstools and a counter as long as the bar for poor souls like myself that can’t fit. I had the cask IPA ($5 a pint, I think the others were $4), which was alright. I think they had one other beer that they don’t bottle on tap (Tiburon Blonde), which was disappointingI was hoping for something fancy. I did want to try their Star Brew, but had to drive and didn’t want to be too stupid. Back to beers on tapthey had 7. I didn’t have to wait long to get my beer, and the staff (the three I encountered) were friendly. They have a few TV’s, a buttload of Marin Brewing apparel hanging up, and what looked to me like an open kitchen. Food smelled good, but I opted for Wendy’s later on. I’ll gladly come back, hopefully on a less busy day and do some BSing with the bar staff.“

“Very nice place. A little pricey. Beautiful scenic location. Not much as much on tap that I would have like to see. Borderline retarded waitstaff, friendly, but stupid as all get out. Worth the stop but there is so much else out there that if you are stretched for time or on a budget I would suggest many other places on the 101.“

“I found the place very Marin, tucked away in a open air mall near a ferry landing. Sort of dark inside, so we ate outside. Our server wasn’t around much. We had pizzas for dinner, and raspberry cheese cake for dessert, and the food was pretty solid. Interesting combinations on the pizzas which worked. The house beers were all good to nearly outstanding, my favorite being the Mt. Tam Ale, which could’ve passed for an IPA. Expect to be back here the next time I’m in town.“

“If you show up to MBC covered in Marin headlands dust, after having riden in the holylands of Mountain Biking... see Pine Mountain, see Repack, see Tam, then said MBC is similar to experiencing Pink Floyd after smoking pot you just get it. Marin Brewing Company is a Mtn Biker Bar. Show up sober and it’s pretty freaking average.“

“First time back here since like ’93. Same place but just more warn in and used looking than I remember. The food is decent and not much more. The help was friendly and fairly knowledgeable about their beer. I find their beer above average and there is a sense that they’re trying not to get left behind in this craft beer revolution. The Quad I had (big thanks to hopscotch) is the best beer I’ve had of there’s and it was very nice.“

“A little seedy compared to Moylan’s, but it fully qualifies as a local, which, sadly, Moylan’s is not so much. Food was decent and the beers are always good. Handy jump off for the ferry to S.F. Drink, then ride, don’t drive. Catch public trans up Market, then up the hill to the Magnolia. 8/2014 update. Food, service and selection seem to have improved a lot. Or else I was too picky on my first rating.“
