“Big place. Pretty bright. Two wings. One all seating, the other with a bar. Food truck in a center courtyard that seemed like it was probably a permanent fixture. Customer service was mixed. Beer quality mixed. Weird peppery note in the IPAs. Stouts were good. Singles and four/six packs to go. Prices a tad bit high but not outrageous. Street parking fine if you're willing to walk a block. Worth a stop if nearby.“

“Neighborhood bar feel. It's in a nice little block with several restaurants. They'll eventually have their own food (brats, dogs, and such). Owner was working. He recognized me when I walked in and I recognized him. We've chatted at at least three different beer festivals. Got beer to go as I was just wanting to get to the hotel. Historically beer from these guys has been amazing. The Typhoonery I'm sipping on now is excellent, but I knew it would be as I've had it before. 2 four packs of pints was $19. Excellent addition to the area. I'll be back.“

“Stopped here on the way out of town from my annual work conference. Located in the same place as ABV Social used to be. The 2.5 years since I've moved away from Milwaukee have been good to Good City. I guess MKE has lived up to the brewery's name. Big, open place. Sports bar vibe (Packers game was on) but also pretty bright. Nice feel. Didn't eat. Servers were a little absent, but were friendly. Probably under-staffed. Had a flight. One of my selections was no longer on tap. Beers decent to good. Decent stop.“

“Big place, well organized. Staff was friendly and helpful. I didn't need help but I heard an employee giving excellent advice to another customer. Large selection. Few rarities, but a few. Lots of less common beers. A little lacking on the mead. Foreign selection is meh. But good selection of cider and sake, excellent selection of American and Wisconsin beers. One of the better selections in the area. Solid prices. Not sure about pulling singles from sixers. It's not an obvious practice but maybe they let ya. Didn't ask. Filled a 6 pack for $32, but that included a limited release mead. Overall a nice stop if you're in Tosa.“

“Randomly drove by when I was hungry, so I stopped in. Smaller Sendik's, but with the usual charm. Sendik's is a special kind of store. Glad to have them around here. Small and older. Large alcohol selection. Lots of it beer. Smaller selection of large format bottles, but decent selection of small format and 30 or so singles in a build your own section. Prices solid. Picked up 3 new ticks here. Nothing rare and not worth going out of your way, but maybe worth a peek if you're going to Ray's down the street.“

“Interesting little tap area tucked into the corner of the Whole Foods right off the freeway in Tosa. 17 craft brew taps plus 2 that are kombucha and a cider. Recent and desired stuff too. A 15 seat bar area with random dining seating behind. Terrific prices - $3 or $4 for a tap that starts at 10oz and almost everything available in growlers. Plus wines available and some liquor. Interesting place. Funny that folks left the bar carrying their drinks, and bought food in the grocery, then sat back at the bar to eat. Not sure of hours, as had gone by twice before hitting it when open. Little ambiance, sitting in a big grocery, but location, quality and especially prices are good. There is a "food court" area with several choices for carryout food, plus a bottle section in the store area with a decent range of stuff that did not seem to be priced outrageously.“

“Well, maybe there’s a reason this place hasn’t been rated in two and a half years. The locals knew something I didn’t. Holy crap. Open garage vibe, picnic tables. Lots of locals. Country rock. Bartender was nice. No food but free popcorn. 8 beers in a flight for $10. Not bad. But the quality of the beer was, well, it was making me think I found the worst brewery in Wisconsin. Of the 8 beers, a couple were barely drinkable. But some were severely off, disgusting and undrinkable. Tons of diacetyl problems. The combination of bad beer and the cigarette smoke had me feeling sick. Parking was tricky. The bright side is the friendly bartender, but I was happy to get out of there. Looking at beerbaaron’s review below, clearly they’ve now had time to improve. Avoid.“

“I knew immediately this was connected to Cafe Centraal as the beer menu looks exactly the same. Smallish, cozy feel but plenty of space. Excellent bartender. Good food. Solid beer list, much like Centraal. I tried the "house" beers which were solid. Pricy beers food prices OK. Solid place.“

“Update! I’ve been here several times since moving to Wisconsin. Cheap food (get the grilled cheese and stuff tots), great beer selection, frequent beer turnover, free wifi and they don’t mind if you spend all day. Solid place to get out of the big city and knock out some studying.

Open only two weeks, it still has that new store smell. Exceptional customer service in the beer department, with lots of good recommendations. Locals, a few interesting non-local bottles. The single selection was a little lacking. 20 taps with lots of local stuff. Good prices. Did not try the food. Was not able to purchase any beer as some local law states no sales after 9PM and I got to the register at 903. Doh!“

“I came to this new place back in September, and being that time of year, I was all about the pumpkin. They had only two choices, both of which I’d already had. They had other beer, but it looked rather pedestrian to me. Food was good, which if I’m in the area again, is a plus. Bartenders didn’t really pay much attention to their customers unless they knew them.“

“Tried the NEW World of Beer in Wauwatosa on a whim. I take it they had been open about a month or less. Staff for friendly and knowledgeable with samples ready at your request. Food menu is lacking a little. There’s about 20+ taps with all good crafts and some mighty rare finds at decent prices. Tons and tons of single bottles and cans but you definitely pay the price. Expect to spend at least $20 with all the tasty options available.“

“Nice building, interesting and fitting décor. Overall poor service. Slow. Fiancé’s mocha espresso was garbage. Almost walked out after taking forever to get some simple appetizers. Dirty water glass. Food is average and overpriced. Draft and bottle list is big but never changes and wont find anything special on it as well as being staggeringly overpriced. Don’t bother.“

“Located close to my house. They recently remodeled and all of their beers are in the cooler now. They have a pretty decent selection of local and regional beers. Nothing will blow your mind, but they get all the local seasonal beers including NG, CW, etc. Unfortunately, Ray’s Liquor is a few blocks down the road and has a much bigger selection. Ray’s has weird hours, so Sendik’s is a good back up if you are in the neighborhood and need beer.“

“Its sort of like drinking beer in someone’s unfinished basement, except bigger. Mix n match tables and chairs bought from goodwill. Taster flight of 7 for $7 but only 1 of the beers were passable. A couple I didn’t want to finish. They’ve some work to do..“

“It was a bit tough to find it since it has a state street address but the entrance is on 62nd. I’ve driven by a few times and didn’t notice it. I suggest they put a large, bright noticeable sign on their state street window to let people know they are here. The inside seems to be an old garage or warehouse with big open ceilings, wooden tables and and handful of games like pinball and bag toss. Stacks of board games, a few TVs and a reasonably priced sampler are enough to get me in the door. Six on tap on my visit and decent service. Light snacks and free popcorn were the only food options. I’ll be back to check them out as they grow.“

“Nice setting on the river in downtown Tosa. Mostly Belgians on tap with a few other offerings and a nice bottle selection. Service was okay, didn’t eat and didn’t stay too long as well. There’s something about this "chain" that turns me off a bit. Not sure if it’s the overpriced beers or what but I tend to look elsewhere when heading out in town.“

“Nice little place just west of Mayfair. Many different little small sections of beer, with a decent selection of range of styles/places. Some bottles with dust, so not great for turnover, but they also had enough things to cover what I was looking for, and buy a couple of additional items. I’ll go back.“

“Close to my house, which is nice. However, I never go there. It’s usually packed with yuppies. The food is decent but overpriced. the beer list has some Belgians, but the taps hardly every rotate and they are waaaaay overpriced. They do have a nice outdoor patio that overlooks the river. I make an effort not to go there.“

“Really nice ambiance and decor, and they have a nice patio. Service was almost near perfect, waitress came by quickly and assisted us, and knew about beer. the Food was really good, and they had a vast beer selection (many Belgian beers for sure) of a lot of beers that aren’t available where I live (Ale Asylum, New Holland, Goose Island). I only really fault them for their prices. Bottles of beer were a bit pricier than I would like to pay, but still acceptable. There is another location, in Wauwatosa, that may be better, or worse, but I do not know. I find these people who complained about this place to be a bit excessive, and perhaps they are referring to the other location.“

“Ray’s is less than a mile from my house. They’ve got a nice beer selection and usually get most of the releases that I’m interested in. The staff is nice, but I’ve never really need their advice on anything, so I’m not sure if they are knowledgeable or not. They are much more interested in wine than beer though. Also, they are pretty pricey compared to other places (ie Discount) I wouldn’t make a special trip, but if you’re in the Tosa area it’s worth stopping by.“

“Stopped in quickly on a hurried trip north through Wisconsin. Found exactly the beers I was hoping for, most as singles. The only ones that weren’t available as singles were things I planned to buy packs of anyway, so that worked out nicely. Can’t give a good idea on the pricing since I don’t have any prices to compare for these particular beers, but it seemed fair, and the two big ones (NG Belgian Red and Strawberry Tart) happened to be on sale. Employees were friendly and helpful, store was laid out nicely, and most of the selections were refrigerated.“

“Pretty nice place with pretty good service. Always have a lot of people working who are willing to help you. Decent selection, but not the best in the area. They sell a lot of their beer in singles, so it is a bit overpriced. Good import selection.“

“I don’t usually rate places, but had to do it for this occassion. This place was heaven to me. 20+ high quality belgian beers on tap and lots of others in the bottle. Good ambiance. Great service; our waiter was well versed and genuinely excited about all the beer selections they offered. Food was above average; had the blackberry turkey sandwich. Fairly expensive but overall fantastic.“

“Stopped here because it was near my hotel. Nice neighborhood beer store. Can’t rate its selection vs. any other store in the area, but I was pleased with being able to pick up stuff that’s not in Chicago yet, especially the latest New Glarus sampler. Plenty of local single bottles, and a few broken six packs. Didn’t have to ask for help, since there was plenty more than I could afford to carry out of there.“

“For the Milwaukee area, a different style liquor store than Discount or Breez-Thru, yet not bad in its own way. A bit more pricey than those others, but with a nice range of choices - including some more "west coast" stuff that is hard to find anywhere in WI. Staff is not micro-savvy, if you are looking for help as it remains essentially a beer depot with a nice-sized micro section.“

“Decent selection of beer, some in singles along the back wall - some of which are reasonable and others which are way overpriced. Nice selection of Belgians and foreigns along the side wall and a fair amount of regional and national micros. “Ray’s has a good selection and is between work and home, which works for me. The store has a nice layout and what looks to be a solid selection of booze, too. Prices are on the high-end for the area, but fall short of unreasonable. Service is usually there when you need it, and all of the staff seem friendly.“

“Neat, clean, well organized and stocked. Respectable selection of domestic and foreign beers. Pricing seemed a bit stiff for singles. Beer available in chilled shelves. Staff were pleasant and opened up a new line for me when there was a sudden rush of people checking out. There were some beers I probably would have bought if available in singles vs. 4-packs and 6-packs.“

“I visited Ray’s at the suggestion of a friend who is a long-time Milwaukee resident. It is a well-organized store with an extensive wine and beer selection. The import selection here is much more interesting than the craft beer selection, although there are many varieties of both. Selection of singles is mostly confined to imports...it seemed to me that most of the US crafts were sold in multipacks. When I first walked through the door, I noticed most of the floor space is devoted to wine, with all beer in coolers along two walls of the store. The store staff greeted me, but didn’t bother me as I scoured through the imported single serves. Unlike some others, this store is clean and well-organized, and in a way, is a reflection of the rather yuppie-schic Wauwatosa neighborhood which houses it (not that there’s anything wrong with that). Overall, I thought the selection was good, but not great and the level of service seemed fine but not great. This is a nice place, but I feel that my mix of Milwaukee liquor stores satisfies my needs. When I want import selection, Discount; when I want US craft selection (stored in dark fridges), then Breeze-Thru; and when I want service, I drive up to Murray’s. While this is a perfectly serviceable store, it just didn’t identify a superlative that would bring me back to this store.“
