70 /100 Camino - West Allis (Bar) 7211 W. GREENFIELD AVE Stopped by today. Big place. A bit of a wait but there was a car show in the street with hundreds of people. Staff was all friendly. Decent beer list though nothing rare. Nothing new for me. I had a Two Hearted Ale. Food was mostly cooked well but eggs were both under and overcooked. Overall decent stop for food if in the area. |
60 /100 7508 W GREENFIELD AVE Stopped by yesterday. Definite soccer bar. Soccer swag on the walls. Tottenham - Liverpool game on with about a dozen soccer bros. Bartender was helpful but a bit absent. Flight of four. First two were bad, second two were good. So mixed. Prices decent. Parking okay in the neighborhood behind. Not worth your first and only stop in West Allis but not terrible. |
80 /100 7508 W GREENFIELD AVE Oh to be young with just enough resources to rescue a small storefront and turn it into a microbrewery. The Naus brothers and their wives have created a small craft beer oasis on a busy street across from the West Allis City Hall and a few blocks east of the Wisconsin State Fair. There's room for about 40 people inside (and about the same number might fit on their outdoor patio) including 15 or so seats at the bar. There were 16 tap choices (4 were N.A.) and all were different styles. It was easy to create flights with their 5-oz pours or order pints. Growlers were available on most offerings. All prices were reasonable. A few snack foods are available, and it's OK to bring in your own eats. The brothers were both there on a Sunday afternoon and happy to chat. One even produced a container of the maple-infused mushrooms used in their mushroom imperial stout (with the promise that the mushrooms' maple aroma does not overwhelm the stout -- and he was right). The music was good and so was the beer. |
72 /100 6001 W MADISON STREET This is a classic corner neighborhood dive bar that happens to be a brewery. Not a huge tap list. The three I tried (smoked Belgian, raw stout, English IPA) were all excellent. Tending the bar was Kyle, the brewery, and presumably the owner. He's a nerd, in a good way. Knows his stuff. Friendly service. Food was good. Nice place. |
84 /100 6751 W NATIONAL AVE Huge place. Went right at opening and the place was empty but started filling about 45 minutes after opening. 4 bartenders. two of whom were very friendly, helpful. and engaging. Huge parking lot. They've only been open a few weeks, but the plan is to have a 7000 square foot patio. That goes along with their massive indoor space. Large garage doors to the old warehouse led to some cross breezes and plenty of light. Tried 7 beers and all were good to very good. Prices good. Recommended stop. |
100 /100 Class One Liquor (Beer Store) 8423 W CLEVELAND AVE Best liquor store in West Allis |
86 /100 Drunk Uncle (Bar) 1902 S. 68TH STREET This place rules. 48 taps. 3 dollars a piece. Most regular beer are 16oz, more expensive or gimmicky stuff generally in 8oz pours. 1 dollar IPAs Saturday 2-8. Dive bar feel, but plenty of space. Brewer game on in the corner I sat in, pro wrestling blaring out of the speakers around me. Judging by the Macho Man art behind the bar, I assume they are into that kind of stuff. Great list, great place. |
78 /100 Benno’s Pub and Grill (Bar) 7413 W. GREENFIELD AVE. Right on the main drag in downtown West Allis - cannot get away from there in my life, including walking siblings to dance class a block away. Plan to park before it because 74th is a one way street the wrong way from parking. Very local place - half bar/half restaurant and neither very large. 15 person bar with 30 taps, mostly micros and as many from CO as WI; nice range of styles. A tap list somewhere on the net would be a benefit. |
82 /100 Benno’s Pub and Grill (Bar) 7413 W. GREENFIELD AVE. Located in "downtown" Stallis’ on the main beat. It would be very easy to pass this by without a second thought. The ambiance is eclectic to put it nicely. Nothing to new or exciting, but comfortable atmosphere. The tap line is huge though! The tap list is generally excellent. I can always find 4-5 beers that I’m happy to try. They were the only place in town that got Flying Dog’s Kujo and the first place to tap Hopslam (full pint pour with no cluster fuck crowd). The service is generally excellent, especially the bartender who procures their beer. He does a great job and is really making this into a great beer bar There is no other beer places in proximity to it, so you’ll have to make a special trip there. The only other thing that bothers me is that they don’t have an up to date tap list online, so I rarely make the trip there. Definitely a place you should hit if you are in the area. It should me much higher on the RB Milwaukee places list. |
54 /100 Benno’s Pub and Grill (Bar) 7413 W. GREENFIELD AVE. Great for a ’Stallis bar but not so shiny when compared to other Milwaukee establishments. The bar has a good vibe, no stares from the regulars when you walk in. Decent selection of craft/import tap lines. Their menu is decent.. wings are so-so, the fish fry is pretty good. Nice alternative if you don’t want to make the journey to Milwaukee’s Downtown or Eastside areas. |
80 /100 Kegel’s Inn (Restaurant) 5901 W. NATIONAL AVENUE For German beer lovers this is a must in Milwaukee. Very nice selection of Germans on tap and solid bottle selection too. And if you like German food then this something you’ll be kicking yourself for missing |
60 /100 Kegel’s Inn (Restaurant) 5901 W. NATIONAL AVENUE Neat little building reminiscent of a german beer hall. Nice rotating selection of German beers but come here for the authentic German food at a decent price. The Sauerbraten is to die for! |
100 /100 Benno’s Pub and Grill (Bar) 7413 W. GREENFIELD AVE. Great beers, great people.....bartender Justin is awesome....J-Money is the man with the suds....come and enjoy all of the beers........ |
66 /100 Benno’s Pub and Grill (Bar) 7413 W. GREENFIELD AVE. Nice selection of taps and above average pub grub. Best times to visit are weekends and after work during the week. Can get a bit smoky and filled with macro swilling locals at night. Appears to be understaffed during busy times. |
54 /100 Benno’s Pub and Grill (Bar) 7413 W. GREENFIELD AVE. I had read about Benno’s on this site, so I stopped by to take a look.
The sign outside proclaims "Home of Microbrews," and their beer list is impressive. There are 30 mostly-craft beers on draft, and although they are of high quality, most of these 30 aren’t terribly uncommon (New Glarus Fat Squirrel, Sprecher Amber, etc.). The decor is unremarkable...it’s modern with a shoebox shaped bar with an adjacent room with seating.
I sat at the bar and had a "classic taco." The service was quick and relatively friendly, and my impression upon hearing the bartendress give a beer recommendation to a customer led me to believe that they have a familiarity with at least some of their draft beers. I was pretty underwhelmed by the food...the tacos at McBob’s (4919 W North Ave) are much better. |
52 /100 Kegel’s Inn (Restaurant) 5901 W. NATIONAL AVENUE My first impression of Kegel’s when I parked the car and walked into the place was "old," or if you prefer, "authentic." The fascade of the building is attractive, and I’ve read it dates to 1924, but I might have guessed that it was a tied house from the old days. The clientele reflects the neighborhood, and is a mature group as well. And the interior reflects an old-world craftsman with a lot of woodwork and murals around the ceiling.
I didn’t eat here, but the beer was reasonably priced.
There were ten beers on draft with a limited selection in bottles behind the bar. The beer list is definitely import focused (Spaten Lager, Oktoberfest, Optimator, Franziskaner Weisse, Hacker-Pschorr Weisse, Pilsner Urquell, Dinkel Acher, Radeberger, and a few macros). This is not really a beer focused place...it is focused on people getting together and sharing conversation and food. Tot that point, there is not a TV in sight which is rare in bars these days. |
84 /100 Benno’s Pub and Grill (Bar) 7413 W. GREENFIELD AVE. Nice selection of taps,great service,good food! |
48 /100 Benno’s Pub and Grill (Bar) 7413 W. GREENFIELD AVE. One of the better places in town for taps, especially Wisconsin micro taps, but nothing to really entice us locals into becomming regulars. Happy hour specials Monday-Thursday - tap beer $3 per pint. Monday is $1 off bottles night. Opens at 4:00 p.m. The bartender - no matter who it is - is usually an ass, so don’t expect a welcome wagon unless you decide to become crass at the door and act like a volgar blue collar yokel. A little smoky, and the fact that everything I’ve had has been served in a shaker is a bit disappointing, but it’s semi-worthwhile if you’re from out of town and want some Wisconsin flavors. |
74 /100 Benno’s Pub and Grill (Bar) 7413 W. GREENFIELD AVE. Not a bad place to stop for a few brews. The lady serving us didnt know about the Lakefront Bourbon, but was right on about the other selections. Good selection of beers both tap and bottle, not bad. |
80 /100 Benno’s Pub and Grill (Bar) 7413 W. GREENFIELD AVE. The beer is good. Beer cooler is self-serve... They have free wireless access as well.
I had the Pork Cubano sandwich with waffle fries. It was pretty damn tasty. |
60 /100 Benno’s Pub and Grill (Bar) 7413 W. GREENFIELD AVE. I have nothing different to say that what John has said. The food is OK. |
74 /100 Benno’s Pub and Grill (Bar) 7413 W. GREENFIELD AVE. A different experience each night. Often too smoke filled, but a great selection of brews on tap and some decent bottles as well. Recently had SN Harvent ale. Nearly always has Alpha King and Two Hearted ales on tap. Others seen 90 Minute, Hop Ottin, Raputin plus locals including Lakefront, Great Dane, Tyranena, Sprecher and Milwaukee Ale House. Decent Pub food. Glassware is not always appropriate, and at times the staff does not know the various brews. |
80 /100 Benno’s Pub and Grill (Bar) 7413 W. GREENFIELD AVE. One of the best tap selections in the area. Friendly place, decent food. |
74 /100 Benno’s Pub and Grill (Bar) 7413 W. GREENFIELD AVE. A good bar where the staff knows what it's serving. The drafts are quality regional beers (e.g., Lakefront, Sprecher, and of course New Glarus). Pub grub, nothing to complain about. |
