“Rating location near Nihombashi station. 29 beers on tap, including some sours and imperial stouts very nice selection. Small and very cool.“

“Awesome place. 18 beers on tap. Wide range of styles, but all easy drinking. I like the Pilsner and stouts. Their pizzas are insanely good deep dish style. That is worth the visit alone.“

“I think I am mayor of this place now (by entering 3 beers). First: the neighborhood, which is super cool. Packed for a mile with shops and restaurants, and right next Shinjuku park. About 15 taps: mostly regular beers, plus a barley wine and a tapped out BA barleywine. Quite nice. Each 250mL pour (7oz) is $450 (2024 prices).“

“Brewpub in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Long bar and small tables. 7 regular taps and 2 special beers (one was a low abv beer). Mostly light styles (APA, IPA, some light Belgians). Pretty good, nothing crazy. Everything ordered from QR code on phone. They have food (sausages and appetizers, American pub food). Good stop.“

“Tickyo! Nice little spot by the station. Good selection of brewskis. They do flights so…say it with me one more time…YOU CAN TICK! Good variation of styles yet sadly no barleywine. Friendly people serving there. I didn’t try the food but the menu looked like pub food.“

“Awesome place right by a ton of universities. No seats. Was busy early. Great service. No food. Well, it's great because the beers are wonderful. The IPAs are really awesome, on par with almost anywhere. Nice sour as well. I wonder if they do stouts? This place is quite small, I suspect it will be bigger soon. Must visit in Japan.“

“Similar to the Kita Senju location but less bottles and more of a sit down bar on the 1st floor. American beers were very expensive. Way more than double what I'd pay. A nice taplist. Decent choice for good Japanese bottles and cans.“

“Nice small place right by the station. Nice selection of beers, not a ton of food. Of course, good service. Gets busy. Solid, harder to get beers.“

“Interesting spot that seems to specialize in Aussie beers. Their taplist — of 26 beers, not 40, unlike advertised — was majority Aussie, with a few NZ, Japanese and Korean thrown in to the mix as well. No flights—that’s no more. Half pours and full pours available for very expensive amounts, due to the import costs. Staff will at least do free samples. The place itself is larger than most in Tokyo, with a nicely designed spaces on the 2nd floor that’s easy to find. Not a top spot, but it’s cool what they have going on with their Aussie beer theme. Might be worth a look.“

“Located in the basement of Shibuya Parco with lots of food places on the same building. 10 taps, with 2 sizes available for most beers. Not the most interesting taplist when I walked by, but they had a Japanese impie stout on and available in 100 pours for ¥600, which got me in. Friendly service and a nice casual place to chill if in the area.“

74 /100 2-13-12 HAMAMATSUCHO, MINATO-KU
“Much bigger than Devil Craft Kanda, with everything on one floor and many more tables. 20 taps, with a very similar taplist to Kanda's -- half pours and full pours available like at Kanda. I attended for their 10-year anniversary event, but there wasn't much different going on other than the release of 1 new beer (what kind of anniversary event is that?!). Regardless, the place is nice, the service good, and the beer quality solid; though they don't see to be all that adventurous in the beer styles they brew. Good spot close to Hamamatsucho station and worth stopping at when in Tokyo.“

“Great liquor store just steps from the Mejiro metro station -- just find the stairs that lead down and it'll be obvious when you've found it. Very large selection, though the majority is imports. There are a couple of open coolers of Japanese beers. I found some interesting locals to try, plus some cool Belgian things that were priced pretty well -- the lambic selection is pretty solid in particular. Close to Inkhorn Brewing also, which was my favourite brewery stop of the trip. Don't miss this place.“

68 /100 2-CHOME-20-5 MINATO CITY, SHINBASHI
“Tucked away in the middle of the Shinbashi Ekimae Building — not that hard to find really. Cash only like all the other iBrew locations. This is the smallest of the four, but is AC’d well unlike Ginza. Flights of 3 available (the other locations allows flights of 3, 5 and 10) for not too much. About 10 taps were imports; the rest were Japanese. Pleasant service—friendly and quick. Beer list was less exciting than the other locations. Not especially worth a stop if your time is limited but it’s a pleasant place, offers lots of Japanese beers, and is ticker-friendly.“

“About 10-12 minutes walking from Tokyo Station, this place is located at the base of the Yurakucho metro station. I liked everything about this place, except the beer. 16 taps, heavily focused on IPAs, most west coasts. They do flights of 4 for ¥1600, which is a good deal considering that includes their big beers (double IPAs and a BA impie stout). Unfortunately, I wasn’t hoppy with the hop expression on any of the 6 IPAs I tried: they weren’t infected or even unbalanced; they just didn’t harness the hops very well. Super friendly service, comfortable environment, but the beer quality waw not that great. If you’re looking for killer IPAs in Tokyo, better go to Inkhorn instead.“

“Very cool spot in Kanda near many other places that has 8 taps on the ground floor and a pretty good can/bottle shop upstairs. Of the 8 taps, 4 were US, 1 was a generic Belgian, and the other 3 were Japanese -- not the most interesting taplist for me. 2 sized pours available. Friendly, hospitable service. The bottle selection upstairs was solid, though focused on imports from Europe and the US. Prices were thus high due to the imports. Worth a stop when in Kanda, but it wasn't a highlight for me.“

40 /100 1 CHOME-60-19 MINAMIOTSUKA, TOSHIMA CITY
“Interesting spot, specializing in smoking food and beer. They seem to be primarily a meal place that has a dozen or so craft taps, including 2 of their own: a rauch bier and a weird spiced beer that was supposed to mimic Thai green curry that was actually good. 2 sized pours available (small was about 260mL). Their own beer was just under ¥600 for the small -- much more for the guests. Unfortunately, they were deceptive about charges. They were nice enough to bring us some complimentary nuts to snack on with our drinks -- or so we thought. When we got the bill, there was an additional ¥700-800 charge, for which I didn't understand the explanation. Not cool at all. Don't give this place your business. “

70 /100 3-53-7 MINAMIOTSUKA, TOSHIMA-KU
“A bit north of Takayama liquor store and Inkhorn Brewing, this is a pretty Americanized bar, at least judged by the US-centric beer list. 10 taps, mostly American, a couple Japanese. 3 sizes available, including a small that is 200mL -- still pricey for those US beers. They have some cans and bottles too (US stuff). Bartender was American, but pretty nonchalant. Not especially worth going out of your way for if you're not looking for US beer, but a good spot overall.“

“I concur with beastiefan2k's review: some of the best beer I tried in Tokyo. Standing room only, can get a bit cramped. No flights, just half and full pours, though staff are friendly and will give samples; half pours were ¥800-900, pretty steep. They seemed to specialize in IPAs, with 4 WCIPAs on, plus some hazies, a pilsner, and a fruited kettle sour. The WCIPAs were honestly phenomenal -- their Nelson IPA was up there with the best of WA, OR and CA -- truly impressive. Don't miss this place,“

70 /100 2-11-7 YAESU, CHUO-KU
“This was my least favourite of the three, because 1) the place was stuffy and poorly air conditioned -- making it a furnace in Tokyo's oppressive summers; and 2) had a strange layout that didn't seem to be designed for easily communicating with the staff. The beer list was just as good as the others, and flights of 3, 5 and 10 beers are available. Probably worth a stop in other months, but during the summer, it's not a particularly comfortable experience here.“

76 /100 5-3-2 ROPPONGI, MINATO-KU
“My first Asian BrewDog experience. It looks like all the European locations I've visited, but it's table service only and flight/small pour options are much more limited. The beer list for the guest taps was quite interesting, with stuff from all over Europe, Australia and the US; BrewDog taps were uninteresting to me. Very friendly, good English-speaking service. Not a very Japanese experience, but a solid spot in Roppongi that's worth hitting on your Tokyo craft beer adventures.“

86 /100 2-18-7 RYOGOKU, SUMIDA-KU
“Top-rated bar in Tokyo for good reason — this was my favourite beer stop in Tokyo, with close competition from Mikkeller Tokyo and Mikkeller Kiosk/Bar. Very close to the Ryogoku station metro. They have a humongous number of taps, with lots of flight options: preset flights of 10 x 70ml for ~¥2300, custom flights of 10 x 120ml for ~¥4200, and some preset flights of smaller numbers of beers. Beer list is impressive, concentrating on good Japanese beers, plus a smaller (a dozen or so) imports. We were very happy with the selection and enjoyed many of the beers we sampled. Service was top-notch, going out of their way to accommodate us vegans. We were the only Westerners in here, which was nice to see. Top-notch spot. Do not miss this pace under any circumstances.“

66 /100 5-26-5-103 SENDAGAYA, SHIBUYA-KU
“Cool spot, but the most expensive craft beer bar we visited in Tokyo and not really worth it. Flights no longer available (as of July 2023). The taplist has about 20 taps, mixed between Japanese and American taps with a large amount of IPAs -- both west coasts and hazy nonsense. Half pours and full pours available for too much. Service didn't speak much English, so we had to point to order. Decent environment and the usual friendly Japanese service. I wouldn't rush back.“

“Don't expect the most exciting beer here, but the place itself is fantastic. Located on the 2F near the centre of Shibuya on a very quiet street, the Persian bartender has been working there for years and will take good care of you. Taplist has a dozen or year-rounds, plus 4 seasonals. Customs flights of 3 available for ¥1100. Beer quality was all fine, but nothing special. Ambience-wise, we really enjoyed this place. Beer quality-wise, there are many better spots. Worth a stop if it's near-ish to your planned route.“

80 /100 DOGENZAKA 2-19-11, SHIBUYA-KU
“For me, this was on par with nearby Mikkeller Kiosk/Bar: 20 taps, small pours of most beers available, solid taplist of mostly international stuff. Good English-speaking service, who will do free tastes. Nestled away on a side street in Shibuya, the bar itself boasts a pleasant environment with seats over 2 floors. You should definitely visit here when in Tokyo. Another great Mikkeller Asia bar.“

“The second of the iBrew locations I visited -- cash only also. This one is 1-2 minutes from Ebisu station, located on B1 floor of a complex -- look at GoogleMaps; you won't find it otherwise. Dank, dingy but somehow stylish and comfortable interior. 40 taps, with custom flights of 3, 5 or 10 available. Taplist is mostly Japanese, but with a few imports. Servers didn't speak much English, so broken English, pointing and Google Translate gets you by. Really good spot, especially if you come earlier in the day when it's less busy. Definitely recommended.“

“Very cool spot right next to Shibuya station that rivals the main Mikkeller Tokyo bar, also nearby. This place is open early (noon everyday), has 20 taps, and has a coffee bar in the same space (opposite the beer bar). Good selection of mostly Mikkeller/European/American taps, with 1-2 Japanese ones as well. As with all Mikkeller bars, smaller (200ml) pours available and staff are happy to give tastes. Prices are not too outlandish -- standard for Tokyo. Small, curated bottle selection too, with some reasonably priced lambics and a surprising amount of Canadian/Ontario stuff (Burdock, Bellwoods, Collective Arts). Mandatory stop when in Tokyo.“

74 /100 3-38 KANDA SAKUMA-CHO, CHIYODA-KU
“Cash only, fairly large bar (for Tokyo) but still pretty tight. 40 or so taps, with flights of 3, 5 or 10 available for a reasonable price. All Japanese taps, but the list wasn't that interesting to me other than a barley wine (not available on flights). I found some stuff to try, and I did appreciate all the Japanese selection. Service was good, speaking good enough English to communicate and order. Good spot.“

58 /100 WATERRAS TOWER, KANDA AWAJICHO 2-CHOME, CHIYODA-KU
“Nice spot next to a little green area, at the base of a commercial high-rise. They have a lot of taps, with 6 of their own beers, available in "minis" (for ¥600). Sadly, their house beers are terrible -- I tried 3 IPAs, 2 of which were massively infected with diacetyl, and the other was a nasty chalky hazy IPA. Some Belgian guest taps, but they didn't interest me. Super friendly, overly attentive staff. Cool spot, but the house beers are just horrible.“

72 /100 3 CHOME-21-2 UCHIKANDA
“Tucked away in crazy Kanda, it's not immediately obvious you've stumbled across the bar, but you'll notice a Mikkeller-style drawing out front if you look. Ridiculously steep staircase upon entering -- be careful. The bar is on the 2nd floor, with more seating on the 3rd; the burger bar is on the 1st floor. They had 12 taps, with mostly American stuff, but 2-3 Japanese taps -- 2 sizes; standard prices for Tokyo. AC is not as great as other places, but it's pretty good on the 3rd floor if you sit right underneath the unit. Good, friendly, English-speaking service -- the bartender was happy to do free tastes. Overall, far from my favourite Mikkeller bar, but it's a cool Asian spot that is worth hitting when in Tokyo.“

74 /100 4-2-3 NIHONBASHI-MUROMACHI CHUO-KU
“15 minutes walking from Tokyo Station. The main floor is tiny, but they do have more seating upstairs. Despite the intimate downstairs, they have 14 taps, 9 of which were their own, and the others were US guest taps. Two sizes for beers, and staff are happy to give samples. Their own beers were highly skewed towards hoppy beers -- west coasts and hazies, plus some other lighter stuff. Prices are about the same as Western prices. Staff spoke good English. Definitely a worthwhile stop.“

“As stated, small brewpub facing the major street in this residential and quieter neighborhood. About 5 minutes' walk from Mejiro station (and Tanakaya liquor store). No chairs, everyone standing. Bar space for about 15-20 people if all standing. Visible brew area behind glass. About 10 beers available (9 of their own and a guest unblended lambic I had out of a box, which was a very nice surprise). Bartender spoke decent English, even though point is easy enough). Beers come in two sizes. Smaller pours, 260mL were around 800 Yen. The 3 beers we tried were all well done, probably the best of the handful of brewpubs I visited on the trip. I'd say this brewpub in hand with Tanakaya liquor should be a most-do for out-of-town beer geeks.“

“Visited yesterday. It is on the outside of the train station across the brick wall area. Two doors, seemingly couldn't tell what the difference is between each entrance. More seats on one side than the other. Lots of taps. American style centric. The beer quality ranged from well done hoppy beer to overally boozy BA impy stout. American food, Heinz ketchup and yellow mustard on every table. Prices were higher than I like. BA impy stout was 1600 yen, but that was the top end. Has a little store, I bought a 2020 Spelt Wine to take back, my friend bought a t-shirt. Had two new version of classic arcades (TMNT and Street Fighter II). Well worth a visit, especially for hopheads. It is easily walkable from the Tokyo Station, if that makes it easier. I recommend eating at one of the local spots around the brewpub and just going there for drinks (unless someone is really missing eating onion rings). As per usual, service is polite and prompt.“

96 /100 3-4-14 MEJIRO, TOSHIMA-KU
“Visited twice on my current trip to Tokyo. The shop is just around the corner from the Mejiro stop. When you come out (the main entrance) just hang a left on the main street (not the stairs going down) and it is just a few stores down. Entrance goes down into basement but even the entrance looks cool with a barrel and a picture of Muhammad Ali standing over Sonny Liston. A cool basement wood-shelved spot. Dim and intimate with selves covered in attractive alcohol labels. But the beer selection is world class. This may be the best liquor store I have ever been to. There are plenty of local Japanese craft beer in cans and bottles in an open cooler near the back of the store. Prices were surprisingly good on local stuff. There were definitely ranges but I was able to pick up numerous bottles ranging from 600-1100 yen. Lots of styles available. On top of that, there is a wall of wooden door coolers that have imports. So much stuff from the states. I saw Tired Hands, Side Project, and other similarly high quality stuff. Plenty of other countries that had good looking beer labels and sooo many colorful cans that I did not have the patience or interest to examine. Prices were high for the American/imports but I really wasn't there to buy that stuff. Some imports were $100 for a 750ml but again I was not interested in that anyway. The lambic selection was surprising to see. The 3 regular Cantillon half bottles sitting in fridge for around 1200 yen. I picked up a Goyck, which I had never seen imported to the states for 1500 yen. Most lambics were not super rare or anything but the selection is there. On top of the beer, there is glassware that I was tempted by. The brown liquor selection was extensive (but not my knowledge area). Had plenty of cognac that I had never seen. I was tempted by some well priced Vintage Port. Also picked up a Junmai Gingo sake for 2200 yen. I would take this store in any city and feel very fortunate. Additionally, about a 5 minute walk on the main drag in the opposite direction of the train is a worthwhile brewpub (Inkhorn Brewing).“

“I was staying in Ikebukuro and stumbled on to this place. Basement bar, has a European feel to it. Lots of wood, quiet, and lots of beer decorations. Empty import bottles line the bar area. Definitely a beer geek bar based on appearance. Tap list was a mix of US-centric imports and Japanese crafts. All pours come in 3 sizes and prices aren't great. For local beer, 250mL pour for 1000 yen was the lowest price. They have food but I did not eat. Service, as most places, was very polite and nice. Not much English spoken but pointing works well. If in the area, well worth stopping by for the ambiance and local beer selection. But probably not worth a separate trip just for the bar.“

“Visited on a Monday. Decent crowd even for that day. Looks like a western style Belgian beer bar. Lots of wood, lots of beer decorations everywhere. Photos of famous beer writers near the bathrooms. Lots of beer on tap. Prices are high, especially for imports. DIPA ran as more than 2000 yen for a regular pour. I managed with some cheaper drinks and smaller pours. They seem to have a lot of beer from a potentially associated local brewery. Food menu was a bit more mix of cultures as well. My friend and I got the chips (very little salt), my friend got the tonkatsu (pork sandwich), and I got the sashimi emu (which is cool). Finished the night off with a very affordable (1600 yen) half bottle of Cantillon geuze and a less affordable (900 yen for 100ml) of De Trock geuze on draft. The service/ordering is all done through a phone. Some things took a little longer to get to table but that is ok. A pair of English speakers sat next to us. Otherwise, everyone else appeared to be a local. Overall, a great experience and worthwhile trip for all beer geeks.“
