70 /100 STABLES YARD, ZION STREET Wow
I am really happy that I made the trip out here
Lovely trip with the train in beautiful nature
Llanwrtyd Well, as a place, is well spent time
Nice little town in the middle of nowhere
Beer wise it is really not the hottest place on the map
If you are lucky and the brewer and owner is there. You will get a lot of funny stories
Absolutely a recommendable place
Region in Wales #5

70 /100 STABLES YARD, ZION STREET I stayed overnight here back in 2014 to sample there own beers, rough round the edges with character. The beers are fairly average but enjoyable. |
74 /100 STABLES YARD, ZION STREET Oh dear, how do you rate a distinctly rough-round-the edges small town hotel in a mid-Wales backwater that hosts the annual World Bogsnorkling Championships, Man v Horse Marathon and Mountain Bike Chariot Race? Starting with the beers, the most prominent are the four or five typically British cask ales brewed out the back and not at all bad - the better ones being those furthest away from 4% ABV light ales. Certainly more interesting than the Felinfoel Double Dragon. There are bottled Welsh ales too. The food is wholesome, well-cooked and made-for- taste but won’t impress metropolitan grazers. The 21 rooms are, er, quaint but at £ 40 a night with a full belter breakfast, who’s complaining. Overall, in need of more than a lick of paint but worth an overnight visit for the all round efforts made. |
