62 /100 Plough (Bar) THE ROE On the residential main road into St Asaph from the A55, this is a large pub in its own building with a huge car park at the rear that you could never imagine would get full in this day and age. There’s no shortage of people visiting here though and it’s all open plan around a central service area, although the various part wall around the place mean there’s lots of different areas to sit in. It’s decorated well, albeit a modern take on a traditional pub setting. Lots of different groups visit here with families flocking here for the cheap food as well as being a hub for locals. Live sport is also on in here. There’s two outdoor areas which include a few simple tables out front, and many in its purposely designed patio area at its side. You’ll find craft ale options from local Welsh brewers on its hand pumps and Wrexham Lager was available on draught. |
60 /100 Plough (Bar) THE ROE Huge multi-roomed public house and a large patio area with an abundance of tables. Rotating local real ale sold, on my visit it was from the Great Orme and Conwy Breweries. All were well kept and in good condition. The mainstream punters were kept placated with Brain’s Smooth and a typical selection on European lagers. Professional staff and popular for food. The Swan pub next door has also reopened and is selling beers from the Conwy brewery. |
