“Located on one of the main touristy street, this is a small brew-bar with an adjacednt tap room and resturant. The vats aare tucked into a corner and there is a short bar inside and a short bar on the footpath. The staff were chatty, friendly, open to questions and knowlegdgeable. On the day of my visit there were eight taps pouring their own beers (although one was a conract brew). Common glass sizes available are 16oz nd 20oz while 32os/litre cans are available only as takeaway as are growlers. Swigs (5oz) are also available. Prices are cometitive. Well woth a visit if in town.“

“Nice place in the main harbor area. They had 24 taps of mainly their own brews jutvalso about 5-6 guest brews which were all local Nova Scotia. You could do your own flight size, since they charged 2.5 CAD per glass. Beers were average quality.“

“Situated just across the harbor walk and main town you have a stunning view of the town. They did pizzas outside in a wood fired stone oven. I had the lobster roll, so didn’t try the pizzas, but they looked very tasty. Beers were average and they did a flight of four. Cans were available too.“

“Small place, entrance on Montague St. Handful of Covid sidewalk stools. Inside is a small bar and some fermenters. Beers are brewed across the street. Just two on offer when I visited including a tasty smoked pale ale. Bartender Michelle was terrific, and the other customers were hilarious, it was like free entertainment. Popular place with locals and sailors, I was the only exception the night I visited. Food is crisps. Don't expect a lot from the beer, but do expect a good time. Numeric score suffers because of the limited selection but don't let that deter you.“

“Same owner as Shipwright Brewing which is right next door. If you enter on Montague St, though, you have to follow the signs through the B&B and down some stairs to reach the back entrance of the bar/restaurant. You could also take the outdoor concrete stairs or ramp at the plaza next to the building, or even come up from Bluenose Drive to reach the front entrance which has a few outdoor tables. Inside is a small L-shaped bar and some restaurant tables. Service at the bar was excellent. Six or so regular drafts plus six rotators, mostly micros plus a couple of macros. Food was outstanding. Prices were amazing, $20 for a delicious and huge pan fried haddock. Stop here before Shipwright.“

“Sister pub to Saltbox. Great location right on the water with a beautiful view of the town. Small taproom, just a serving bar and a coffee counter across from it. Massive outdoor deck with picnic tables, very little shade. Permanent food counter, most people were just getting fries. Beers were similar to Saltbox stuff, including the ciders, nothing to write home about. Worth a stop just for the view.“

“A good place to come for a drink, a short walk from the centre of town. It's a real old world pub. A few interesting beers to try like Hell's Bay old English Ale. The food was excellent.“

“Tiny little place with a small brewing system in the corner, crowlers to go, and a limited tap list. Friendly staff, and good beer make it worth the stop if you are in town!“

“Primarily a restaurant, we only had an appetizer, but it was good and most of the food coming by looked quite good. Around 10 taps, with 7 or 8 being a local focus, including one cask. Owner seemed quite into the beer, but more so into wine. Definitely a place to have a meal and a beer!“

“Small and very old pub, great atmosphere. More of a leaning towards local beer than last time i was here in 2010.“

“A small pub with loads of character populated mostly by locals. At least 8 taps plus an unknown number of bottles. Very good fish and chips. Appealing architecture and distinctive interior. Friendly, attentive service.“

“nice little place at the bend along the road. it is where the locals drink. The house ale (knot ale) is a propeller brew which is a blend of their honeywheat and their porter. good food at a decent price. the beers are mostly some of the more common macrobrews from around but there are a few english ale. it is about the atmosphere. “

“This is a pub straight out of the Shire from Lord of the Rings- carved wooden sign, covered in vines, small and quaint, and FILLED with happy locals. Fantastic vibe! Not the best selection, but worth a stop just to sit and chill. Didn’t get to try the food.“

“Beautiful little pub in a beautiful little town. Good selection of local beers in comparison to most other South Shore bars, but nothing that’s going to blow your mind. Staff are good, but service can get slow sometimes. Good food, I love the burgers, and it’s decent value for money. I grew up not far from here, and used to go in when I was a kid for lunch with my parents. more than 15 years later it’s still the place to be if you’re in Lunenburg.“

“Impossibly inviting from the outside. Cozy and quintessentially pub-like on the inside. Friendly. Ate before coming so missed out on the astonishingly well-priced local pub grub. The house beer Knot’s Pub Ale is a blend of Propeller Honey Wheat and the Porter and is quite a disaster. Other than that it’s a great pit stop in this lovely Nova Scotia town.“

“Cool looking pub from the exterior and even better inside. You could easily walk passed this pub and not know its there. It reminded me of a little hobbit hole and was expecting to see hobbits drinking beer inside. This pub had plenty of character and the staff were friendly. The beer selection is nothing to get excited about. You could probably knock off the majority of beers from N.S. here but that’s all. The food was good pub grub. I enjoyed it and would visit again. The Propeller ESB was in excellent condition.“

“Visited in the Fall a while back on a mini-trip to Lunenburg, it’s comfortably nestled just along the road from the main strip in town. This small and quaint wooden pub has cosy booths and low lighting and a TV over the bar for that local welcoming feeling, helped by good service. Burger pub food and tasty cheesesticks sated our appetites. Beer selection included solid locally available stuff (Propellor), which perfectly suited the place. An interesting stop.“

“The Knot Pub is all about the ambiance. A tiny little cottage where the locals will make you feel like you belong on the east coast. A true east coast watering hole.“

“Extremely cozy pub, feels and looks like a hobbit hole and that’s a good thing. Burger was decent, mozzarella sticks were delicious and an obscenely large portion - roughly three times the number I got when ordering in Toronto! Propellor and Garrison on draft are not terribly exciting but nice if you haven’t had them yet. Recommended as the best food in town by the girl at the pharmacy! :) Medium quiet/busy when we went in November. Service was decent and friendly.“

“Hung out here for a few nights while touring the South Shore. Great atmosphere, lots of marine decor, good food, and nice friendly patrons. Decent stuff on tap (amazing considering it’s location). Food is definitely above average.“

“Really enjoyed hanging-out here while on vacation in the fall of 2002. The food was excellent coupled with the Propeller beers made this a great trip to Nova Scotia...“

“The Knot is a decent spot. One a couple of beers on tap, but it’s Nova Scotia and that covers much of what you’ll want anyway. Food is ok, rather pubbish with fried pepperoni and other NS pub fare. Certainly worth a visit if you’re on the south shore. UPDATE: selection has gone downhill since my last visit.“
