“Big change in beer offerings started in the Fall as Matt came on as main brewer to do his thing, following several years of hitting homers as owner of Barncat. Their first DIPA was major league, and IS was very good. A lot of good points about this place, safe and laid back destination relatively speaking. Great service as owner's spouse runs the roost. Ten taps It was cold inside at the Sunday open, hours are around the weekend. Coffee is good and they source well. and should improve with a coming expresso machine. Good value as cheaper rent and overhead than a Toronto location. Worth a stop and star of the Waterloo-Kitchener-Cambridge-Guelph trail. Another plus is Walking distance to Four Fathers.“

“Near the river across from town, surrounded by historic 19th century mills. Only one end of the building was open, with a bench selling beer to go only. Plenty of parking around. Beers were hit & miss. Opening hours were hit & miss too. Only stop if you're in town.“

“Huge place in an old industrial building. Inside is set up more as a restaurant, lots of restaurant tables plus a long serving bar. Outside is a small patio surrounded by hop bines, plus what looks like an expansion patio for the summertime. They also have their own disc golf course. Beers are just OK. Food is mainly bar food, burgers and apps. Wedding going on upstairs. Worth a look if you're in town.“

“2022-02-26. Picked up an online order they are well set up with a giant plexiglass window. Not sure if they are planning to have more of a seating area in future? Staff seemed friendly, we were in and out quickly as this was one of several stops for us today. Three beers available today were decent. Would come back to see what's up down the road. “

“2021-09-17. A quick pandemic visit for some to go cans. Old building is cool, small retail store with a couple of fridges we didnt really see if they have changed it much since the Grand River days. Service was fine. Beers varied from just okay to pretty decent. “

“2019-09-13. The chairs all have backs! Yay! Pretty small space overall with a few tables and a longish bar tucked into the brewery. 8 of their beers and two guest taps available today plus cans to go. Friendly servers. There was a pulled pork "pop up" food option available today but we had already eaten. Relatively busy on a Friday night. There is a feeling of newness to it still, having only opened a few months ago. Beers were all pretty decent, and showed promise overall. “

“2018-04-29. Big space with lots of booths, tables and a giant TV over the bar. 15 or 20 taps with a good mix of Ontario craft beer. Friendly server. Food was very good. I had fried chicken and Mabel had a flatbread. I thought the pricing was slightly high for a chainy restaurant but it was very good and the portions were substantial. The space feels a little more generic than the Waterloo location but it's nice enough. Pretty good for the area, as an out of towner I'd probably mainly visit when planning to eat here. “

“2018-04-29. Relatively spartan industrial park space with some tables and stools at the bar. Draft pours and growler fills at the bar. Bartender is very friendly and helpful. Beers are all pretty good today, the IPAs are nice, and the brown ale solid while the Honey Blonde, and Irish Red are decent examples of styles that probably won't impress most beer geeks regardless of how good they are! Worth a visit if you are in the area, it's sort of in between North Works and Barncat so it's an easy stop. Only been open for a short time. I look forward to seeing how they progress. “

“2017-12-30. Small space at the front of the brewery, it's primarily a retail store with a few bar stools at the bar. Only two beers on today (apparently they had some technical difficulties packaging last week) but it looks like they normally have 4-6 taps. Sampled the beers and chatted with the guy behind the bar a bit and got a crowler to go. Good visit, will come back to see what else they have in store in future. Getting here is a bit of a roundabout adventure, (as in literally there are multiple roundabouts in the route!), industrial area. “

“2017-12-30. We have tried a bunch of their stuff thanks to a friend who visits but this was our first time making it up ourselves. Industrial park space is a short drive off the main drag in Cambridge, nice little growler station with 5 beers on today, and a few bottles. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, beers are generally always good to very good depending. Will definitely be back when in the area.“

“3rd day open. Great atmosphere - light fixtures made from Mill St. kegs are very cool. 4 rotating seasonal taps, plus a bunch of year-round ones. Proper glassware for all beers on tap, available to purchase for $5, which seems pretty reasonable (I picked up a couple Delirium Tremens glasses). Great service, even though it seemed pretty busy. Although when I ordered a Amsterdam Framboise, I was disappointed to find out they currently had none... I seriously doubt they sold out in the first 3 days. 3 tables have self-serve taps on them, which is pretty insane. Definitely the best selection of beer I’ve seen in K-W/Cambridge, but I can’t help but be a little disappointed in it as well. A few great craft offerings, and a bunch more mediocre craft/macro beers, with a huge emphasis on Ontario breweries. With the exception of a small handful of beers, all the beers here are readily available at the LCBO or Beer Store. I would’ve loved to see other offerings that are harder to find; this would definitely make me come in more. Food is reasonably priced, and quite good; the quality I expected from the Charcoal group of restaurants, but at a lower-than-expected price. Still looking forward to the Waterloo location, which will be in a nicer neighbourhood, and more convenient for me. Glad to have places like this in the Waterloo region!“

“Just opened. I was reasonably impressed. Is the best beer spot in the area easily, even though the draft and bottle list is primarily not real craft beer. There are some solid options, some Flying Monkeys, Mill St, Muskoka and one from Grand River bottle only. Lots of Sleeman and Molson affiliated euro beers. Food looks pretty promising, Charcoal Group always has good food. Wouldn’t mind a deeper menu, as I think I will become a fairly regular patron. I’m told all of the taps are paid for, so it’s unlikely to see more real craft here than is already there...“

“I had visited this store a little while back when they were the first and only store to receive a couple of products which I’d been wating FOREVER to try but felt totally ignored by the Ontario liquor monopoly. It’s quite large, nicely laid out, with a sizeable beer section all along the back wall with most products the LCBO carries. Had a good selection of all the seaonal releases and a good cash register set up. Service was decent enough by LCBO standards, and I’ve met the guy who’s in charge of beer at this store, who is a cool guy. The best LCBO in Cambridge, but not necessarily something that makes Cambridge worthwhile to live in! Haha just kidding.“

“This is the best LCBO in Cambridge but that doesnt mean its good. They usually get most of the seasonal releases and the staff is friendly. Ryan is the name of the guy who controls the beer inventory and the one you should seek out if you patronize this store. I dont really know what else to say about an LCBO location so...“
