86 /100 VIA ANDREAS-HOFER 30 This place is awesome. Big courtyard with cafe seating out front. Inside had that inviting “old German” feel. It’s cozy with wooden tables and bench seating. Nice bar with with 16 or so taps and a nice bottle. Including Orval and Rodenbach. Staff is friendly and the food menu looks delicious. |
74 /100 Gastrodrink (Beer Store) GALILEO GALILEI-STR. 11 Semi-large bottle shop in a commercial area of Bozen. The selection consists of mainly Italian craft beer with many locals and German classics (incl. Augustiner Oktoberfestbier at the moment). Other than that some international craft beer, and a solid selection of wine. Prices are absolutely reasonable, especially by nowadays' standards. Staff is talkative, knowledgeable and attentive. Nice place to spend your money, would come back regularly if I lived here. |
48 /100 VIA ANDREAS-HOFER 30 Visited on a sunday morning. Empty. Got single bottles only in mixed 6er, but it was okay for swap with friends. |
30 /100 VIA ANDREAS-HOFER 30 I know it may sound eccentric but this place is plain horrible. Some of the beers are nice - specially given the scarcity of craft brews in the region - but the service and the food are unbelievably bad. I guess BatzenBrau can survive among the places with a much greater standard of food and hospitality only because of the steady inflow of tourists eager to experience "the only craft beer brewpub here".
I think their chef's most used tool is can opener. It's usual now to have great food in craft beer places everywhere - but here is a totally different story. You pay what they ask - and get some canned junk tossed into your plate and named a Brewmaster's Salad and such.
Waiters are inattentive, they seem to be always in a hurry. Yes, there were a lot of people this evening - but I've seen a lot of bars and restaurants equally flooded with guests where the staff was nice and cheerful and helpful. Here it's a totally different story again.
Maybe you'll be luckier than me, maybe your waitress will have her good day the time you are there, maybe nice tables in a hall with nice view won't be "reserved" and you won't have to seat outside just a couple feet from passing cars.
You'll know if and when you are there. I won't risk ruining my evening by visitingg this place ever again. |
64 /100 OBSTPLATZ 17 Been there on a late afternoon, during the week, sat at the bar. Ambiance is rustic inside, plus tables outside, which is a plus on sunny days. Service is very simple, no frills. Selection is unfortunately only made of German-style beers. Four different ones the day I walked in. Didn't have good, only fries. Prices were OK. Overall, several steps below Batzenhäusl, the other brewpub in town. |
84 /100 VIA ANDREAS-HOFER 30 Brewpub in the city, with tables outside a la beergarten. Kind service, wide spectrum of own beers, from helles to two barley wines (fairly unusual for a brewpub). Prices were OK. Didn't try food. Overall, very nice place. |
52 /100 VIA ANDREAS-HOFER 30 Loved their design & weizen beer. However 2 other house beers were disappointment... |
78 /100 OBSTPLATZ 17 Brewpub storico di Bolzano dove bere le birre che si producono. La bell’atmosfera fa da contorno alle buone birre e il buon cibo.

52 /100 OBSTPLATZ 17 Surprisingly good. Very German style. Helles is wonderful no matter how many mugs you have left empty behind. |
68 /100 VIA ANDREAS-HOFER 30 Had a few beers here on NYE 2014. Not too packed at the bar, although all of the tables were reserved for dinner. Three of the house brewed offerings were available on draft, a helles, dunkel, and weiss, all of which were pretty good. It looked like they had a pretty big beer garden that would be used during the warmer months, but I didn’t really get a good look. Prices were a touch high for the area. Worth stopping in if you’re traveling in the area. |
72 /100 OBSTPLATZ 17 Great little place I visited when in Bolzen. Only two beers on tap: "Light and Dark". I went with the "Dark" (A dunkel) and quite enjoyed it. Beautiful location, great atmosphere, a cheap pint, and tasty beer. Only thing that is lacking is a better selection, but this place was a memorable stop on a fun trip to Italy. |
80 /100 OBSTPLATZ 17 Great place in Bolzano to get cheap pints of good Bavarian-style brews. Typical of Italian bars, there are only two types of beer: chiara (clear, as in blonde) or scura (dark, as in bocks). Both are very good though. Once in a while they do produce seasonal beers. Highly recommended |
70 /100 OBSTPLATZ 17 good place!!!! |
72 /100 OBSTPLATZ 17 Nice place in the center of Bolzano. Food is simple but good and beers are drinkable, we had helles. What was surprising for me, that people go there rather for food than beer. |
70 /100 OBSTPLATZ 17 When we visited on the 22nd and 23rd December there was just a Helles and a Dunkel but both were good. it’s a lovely building right in the middle of german speaking Bolzano/Bozen. The coppers are in the bar area and the brewer was dry hopping (I think) whilst we were there. The food is simple but very filling. |
