78 /100 Bull Inn (Fuller’s) (Bar) HIGH STREET, Tucked away in a quiet corner of the picturesque village of Sonning, this is a perfect example of a traditional English village pub. The 16th century buildings stand next to the village church, and where originally the guest house for pilgrims visiting the medieval chapel. Since then the inn has been associated with the notorious highwayman, Dick Turpin, and is mentioned by Jerome K. Jerome in his novel Three Men in a Boat. Nowadays the inn is owned by George Gales & Co (now part of Fullers), and serves restaurant style food, as well as having a number of rooms. There are five cask ales (4 Fullers/Gales plus one guest) and the usual range of kegs and bottles. |
