BIRCHWOOD SHOPPING CENTRE
“This is a 21st century built pub in the corner of the Birchwood Shopping Centre with living quarters on the upper level. The ground floor pub is essentially designed for families and those looking for food and the traditional styled open plan area around an ’L’ shaped has tables all suitable for dining in groups. Of course you can just drink here if you wish, either way you’re given a choice of four hand pulled ales from the Marston’s family of brewers and there was a World Cup seasonal available on my visit. There is a Marston Keg ale here too. The outdoor area is particularly nice and well thought out with a good looking patio area, play area for children and wooden picnic table on the grassy part.“

“Recently revamped this is very much a local pub putting on various local entertainment including singers to draw in the punters from the extensive housing area that completely surround the establishment. This is not a traditional pub building, in-fact the design is probably one of the more curious aspects given it was specifically built to service the homes and houses built here by the new town development that took place in the latter half of the 20th century. The pub includes one very large main room where most of the action whatever it may be takes place, but there is a smaller pool room and the bar does extend here. Food is served.“

“Set in a traditional pub building but with an extension to increase dining space as this is part of the Fayre & Square chain so food is the real reason to come here. There are not too many houses in this area, but Birchwood is full of business units so it does well from them, with some trade through the comings and goings at Risley prison which is very close to here. There’s a good set-up for children at the rear and a fair number of outdoor tables too. Inside the decor is traditional but modern durable in design. Ales are available with a nationally available preference.“
