62 /100 CALSTOCK ROAD
“Down a small road from the upper set of traffic lights at the single traffic road section through the centre of the small town of Gunnislake - there is an official signpost for the pub here. Certainly walkable, but there's a car park too situated above the pub on its hillside location, between the two is its split level garden dotted with picnic tables offering up views across the heavily wooded valley of the western edge of Devon. If the time of year isn't agreeable to this lovely spot then the pub itself is a fine older-world styled affair with a couple of front facing rooms part-partioned by a wall, with the bar against the back wall, which sports six cask ale, including a mix of national and regional brews.“

“A gem! 10 min. walk into the countryside from the village. Seemed like an old farm. Inviting outdoor seating and a fantastic interior. 6 ales on cask. 6 kegs. Sadly we were in a hurry. Next time we will start here - or much better: Take a later train. A must-visit for the lovers of pubs & ales.“

“A lovely pub in enchanted surroundings, a road sign in central Gunnislake points the way along a side path to the pub. A beautiful beer garden to the front with view of the Tamar Valley. A traditional, community pub divided into different small sections in nice wooden and old stone interiors. A freehouse offering six cask ales mainly from the southwest region. Ciders are served straight from the casks. Friendly service. After a couple of well kept cask ales we walked the hard steep hill path to the trains station. A great feel-good place, indeed. Listed in the 2017 edition of Camra’s GBG. (Visited with Finn on our Tamar Valley Rail Ale Trail, 26.09.2016).“

“Gunnislake is cozy little village on the Cornwall side of the Tamar River. The village is located about 10 minutes down hill walk from the train station (Drakewalls). We visited four pubs in the villages, all of them being a part of the Tamar Vally Rail Ale Trail. This one is located right in the central part of Gunnislake, one large room with a pool table and a bar, and one smaller room. Carpeted floors in a traditional decor. No music, just the TV on. Two cask ales, nine kegs and a few bottles to choose from. Informative and friendly barmaid (Visited with Finn 26.09.2016).“

“First stop at our Tamar Valley Rail Ale Trail. A cozy, central village pub, bed and breakfast place, with a function room, breakfast section and a public bar. Traditional pub interiors with carpeted floor. Full of local charm. Two well kept cask ales, both from Dartmoor, the usual beers on a few kegs and bottles from St Austell. Polite service. Music free at our stay (Visited with Finn 26.09.2016).“
