“Locals pub with white washed walls in the small village of Phillak, which is on a small hill on the north side of Hayle separated by a small stretch of inland water where the local river meets the Atlantic. There’s not much beyond this pub except for a couple of Holiday Parks on the coast, so if you’re here in season or staying at the parks expect to find a mixed group inside, especially as it allows children. There’s a car park just above the pub to its rear and there’s a rear entrance too so you don’t need to walk back around to the front of the pub if you come by car. Inside it’s a very cosy affair with a very traditional pub set-up, fixtures and fittings, and wooden tables and chairs. St Austell’s ales are here, and their Bucket of Blood special named after the pub was on a pump at the time which was very apt I thought for my visit - needless to say it was sampled. Visited in 2011.“

“Traditional old pub in the centre of Phillack, low beams, with warning messages, comfortable seating but a large pool table taking up a good proportion of the pub. Very quiet on my visit, but the beer was in great condition.“
