“Double roomed traditional looking food pub with the front the main drinking area, and a well presented dining room at the rear. It's surprisingly modern inside, although the decor still aims to keep the traditional public house appearance. There's seats by the window at either side of the central entrance and the 'L' shaped bar is set back on the left. The line of cask ale pumps (probably including a cider) face the front and the selection of locally produced ales is more extensive than most that are currently listed in the South Hams area of Devon.“

“Pub on the narrow main road through the centre of the village. Newly refurbished, and definitely in the "gastropub" arena. The food is excellent (if a tad pricey), with a big focus on local produce and game with some unusual twists. However, it's managed to navigate balance between profitable gastropub and friendly local's watering hole - despite being small has managed to accommodate a more formal (but laid back) dining area at the back plus a relaxed lounge area at the front (you can actually eat or just drink in either - although you may need to book for food at busier times. There's four hand pumps dispensing a regularly changing range of beers from local micros, plus some kegs (from Sharps when we visited, but I see from their website that there's now Bays lager on them too). The service is exceptionally friendly, and the proprietors are clearly much loved and respected by the locals (who are known referred to by name by the staff). Nice to see a little village pub being so successful but not forgetting the regulars. I liked it here and would go back if I was in the area“
