62 /100 Watchman (JDW) (Bar) 184 HIGH STREET New JDWs with unusually bright decor. Not near any nightclubs so a more pleasant atmosphere on a Saturday night than you’ll often get in Wetherspoons. Standard decent selection with a few guest ales. |
62 /100 Watchman (JDW) (Bar) 184 HIGH STREET Situated at the bottom of the high street by the traffic roundabout this is a more updated Wetherspoon than the building suggests. Inside the decor is slightly more funky than we are used to and the bar is central to the room. Behind it is a row of diner like tables and it can feel like that if you sit next to the open plan kitchen. Nevertheless the bar is stocked with the usual and there are two rows of ale pumps, one of which serves real cider very well. |
68 /100 Druid’s Head (Bar) 3, MARKET PLACE Maybe I should do more place ratings, this is pretty local and I’ve drunk here for years. Didn’t know it had a Ratebeer entry. One of Kingston’s nicer pubs, usually has about five handpumps on, although tends towards the bigger brands rather than guest ales. Decent lager range as well. Food is bland but perfectly acceptable. |
58 /100 Druid’s Head (Bar) 3, MARKET PLACE We sat in the Snug around the side. Very pleasant, roaring fire and nice company. Staff were fast, as was the food. The food itself wasn’t amazing but it was better than a lot of pubs I’ve been to. Great location too, just wouldn’t expect to find this tright in the middle of town. |
