Chums (Bar)
22 CHANDOS ROAD
“As Scotty001 notes, Chums has more going on than a typical micropub. It is based in a former shop, but the owner has installed handpumps and uses the basement as a beer cellar. Lager is also available on tap. However, the focus here is on chat rather than music or the TV and the atmosphere is lively, with a bit of an Irish focus. This part of Bristol had few pubs to start with, and most of those are now firmly food orientated, so Chums is a welcome addition and can get busy in the evenings as a result. The 6 beers come from Wye Valley, XT and Butcombe, with guests also a feature. There are also 6 ciders (mainly Gwatkins) and a limited range of Belgian and German beers from the bottle. Food is limited to snacks. A very good pub.“

“Whilst this ticks most of the boxes for a micro pub (minimalist interior, etc), it is really a bit big for my idea of that concept. Welcoming and full of regulars on a wet midweek evening in November is hopefully an indication of longevity.“
