66 /100 Malt n’ Hops (Bar) 50 FRIDAY ST I wish I'd visited this corner pub, which is under the trainline a little away from the town centre when it wasn't quite so busy on Halloween Saturday, which had a good part of pub reserved for a band to set up. I could not even see quite how many casks they had or what was on. A well served half pint from one closest to me, thought about a second but really didn't feel comfortable or welcome enough. I will revisit & update next time. |
82 /100 Ben's Tap & Bottle Shop (Bar) 2 MARKET PLACE Highlight of the 6 pubs I visited on the Chorley Real Ale Trail. Serving there own well made cask beers, plus a couple of guest options as well as well stocked fridges. Friendly service & WIFI. |
72 /100 Flat Iron (Bar) 21 CLEVELAND STREET Micropub part of the Chorley Real Ale Trail. Good range of casks & keg options |
76 /100 Shed and Garden (Bar) 9 FAZACKERLEY STREET Micropub over 2 buildings serving changing 3 casks plus keg options. Well worth a visit |
64 /100 Pearsons (Bar) 72 MARKET STREET Comfortable pub which part of the Chorley Real Ale Trail, 3 casks, 2 on, of which both were new to me. |
70 /100 67 CHAPEL STREET 1st stop in Chorley town centre, minutes from the station pre Chorley v Hereford football. A pretty confusing pub or not so micropub over 2 buildings & bars. The blackboard list is the same for both bars. Decent selection of well looked after cask ales with a couple of new options for me. |
62 /100 Bob Inn (Bar) 24 MARKET PLACE In the covered marketplace in the middle of Chorley, took my dog here for a quick one whilst driving home, not a big shop unit but enough for a bar, some seats, all dressed up like an old-style local - they've done a good job here. There's a few bottle options too if you go through the limited but worthwhile cask options. |
64 /100 Malt n’ Hops (Bar) 50 FRIDAY ST Visited last Boxing Day when they had a musician on, quite busy, but it was a Bank Holiday. It's an open plan pub with a couple of defined areas around an 'L' shaped bar set back against its side wall. It's a cask ale focused pub with over half a dozen available and good local options within these. The pub is close to the train station but on the opposite side of the tracks to its main entrance. |
70 /100 Malt n’ Hops (Bar) 50 FRIDAY ST Visited on 30th April 2016. Large corner pub that has been refurbished recently a couple of minutes from the station on the Manchester bound side. Large bar with a surrounding L shaped pub with plenty of seating, it was pretty busy with locals. Had 8 beers on tap from the local area, the quality was decent enough. Service was decent. Prices good. Snacks are available with slices of pork pie or rolls on the bar. Nice, traditional local pub with a good focus on ale. Would go back. |
70 /100 Bob Inn (Bar) 24 MARKET PLACE Visited on 30th April 2016. Bar taking up a stall in the market in Chorley. It’s quite small with 4 handpulled beers on the bar plus some ciders and a small selection of bottles. There’s seating in the bar, a little bit of room in the surrounding market plus a few tables outside which can be served to through the window. Staff were friendly, beer decent and a good, local selection. Beer was well kept and decently priced. Liked this micropub. A decent spot to visit |
70 /100 67 CHAPEL STREET Visited on 30th April 2016. A short walk from the station gets you to this micropub. It was pretty busy as we arrived and managed to get last table. 5 beers from the local area on tap, the condition was excellent. Staff were friendly. Prices decent. Pork pies available to snack on. A decent venue and handy to pop in if you visit Chorley. |
68 /100 67 CHAPEL STREET In an ’L’ shaped row of older brick buildings behind the large bus station in the town centre. This is a small single roomed micropub with the bar in the far right corner, and several low level seats and tables down its side. There’s five hand pumps here offering a constantly rotating selection and not much else. |
88 /100 67 CHAPEL STREET Micro-pub near the bus station. Selling only real ale, bottled beers, cider, wine & soft drinks. Always a friendly welcome, efficient service. The staff don’t want to go home. They stay for a pint themselves. I wish them well. |
64 /100 Sir Henry Tate (JDW) (Bar) NEW MARKET STREET Situated in a modern building in Chorley town centre, this also has updated but traditional decor and look. The most comfy part of this pub is at the rear where a defined area with bookshelves feels very homely, but the rest of the pub is welcoming too. On the bar two rows of ale pumps give a good selection. There is a temporary patio out front when the weather allows. |
