86 /100 THE CHURCH, KING EDWARD STREET
“Four cask ales, 12 beers on taps, and a few more on cans, most of them from Docks Beers. Their draught beers are available in thirds. Food options, as well. Great place in a former church building, not far from the Grimsby Docks, and about 15 minutes walk from the train station. Excellent service, one of the person behind the microbrewery showed us around the place with a large stage and academy upstairs, the taproom with the bar and brewery plant on the ground floor. He also told us about the social attitude of the place. Good, local vibe on a Saturday afternoon. Our stay at Docks Beers was definitely the highlight on our ten days trip to England in October 22. Even the music at our stay was just great; tunes from Jimi Hendrix Experience, Nirvana, AC/DC, and The Clash. After our stay we were invited into the yellow Docks Beers car and taken to the Message in A Bottle in Cleethorpes. (Visited with Finn 15.10.2022).“

“True to its name, the main bar downstairs is located in a barge docked in on of the arms of the River Freshney. Outdoor seating on the landside at the Riverhead Square. To cask ales and a few beers on the taps. Quite special and cozy, brownish boat room. Polite service. Well worth a short visit. (Visited with Finn 15.10.2022).“

“Located next to the train station in Grimsby, so it is just the right place for breakfast and for a pub crawl in town. Busy on a Saturday morning but we found a table close to the hotel reception. The twin L-shaped bars had 12 HP with a decent range of guest ales. Comfortable beer garden to the rear. Polite service. (Visited with Finn 15.10.2022).“

“Interesting taproom in a former church in a supermarket dominated area. Vast selection of their own beers on cask, keg, bottle & keg. And some guest beers. Experienced a superb service including a tour upstairs to the remarkable function room: The churchroom. Where they nowadays do comedy nights….“

“After a miserable, grey, windy, rainy drive through Grimsby we decided to skip walking round the city and head straight to this place instead. Seems to be the main (sole?) craft beer joint in the town. Fairly small, the bar occupies the space immediately on entry with a view to the brewing area beyond. Comfortable bench seat along the back wall which we headed straight to. Very dog-friendly, with treats and water bowl brought to us. Clipboard menu lists a good range of their own beers, plus around 5 or so guest from Heist, Kirkstall and parent-brewer Axholme. Excellent range of styles, including a weissbock, saison, fruit sours, stout, baltic porter and the usual smattering of hazy IPAs / Session IPAs. Truly something for everyone. Very friendly staff. Fast Wi-Fi, and their own take-out can prices were very reasonable (£2 - £4 a can!). Some guest bottles and cans too. Can't imagine Grimsby has a huge craft beer crowd, but this place will surely make a few converts.“

“Visited on 27th October 2016. Large pub around 10 minutes walk from Grimsby station to the south side of the railway. Nicely decorated, large pub with lots of rooms and a couple of levels, plenty of seating and seemed popular with the locals. Beer range was pretty decent with 10 handpulls, a few nationals but a decent smattering of interesting beer. Quality was maybe not tip-top but was decent enough. Offer a CAMRA discount of 20p per pint, service was friendly, prices good. Decent enough venue and first to be added in the town.“
