64 /100 9-11 HIGH STREET WEST, Locals brewpub not far from the beachfront & boating lake at Redcar, home of the Redscar brewery. Two separate rooms on either side of center bar, one with dining tables quieter family type room, other with pool tables & jukebox playing loud music - no obvious way to get between other than main doors so a case of making your choice on arrival! Three Redscar brews on handpull & one other real ale, very cheap prices, abit run down but definitely worth a look in to pick up the brewery rating. |
50 /100 Gypsy Rover (Bar) 60 STATION ROAD Cosy micropub in Redcar with fairly limited selection of afew standard real ales on handpull plus some bag in box fruit ciders. |
66 /100 Rita’s Pantry (Bar) 1 ESPLANADE Micropub located close to the beach front at Redcar. Reasonable selection of real ales on tap plus two standard ciders. Main room with bar, tables & chairs plus some seating outside. Worth a look in.

72 /100 Rita’s Pantry (Bar) 1 ESPLANADE One of a rash of ’micropubs’ that has sprung up accross Tesside in recent years. This one offers 4 real ales, 2 real ciders, lager and a hand full of Belgian and German bottled beers. The ales seemed to be from local and regional micros and included a dark beer on our visit. Chances are there will be at least a couple you’ve not tried before. The bottled selection was pretty run of the mill with Le Chouffe, Kwak and Duval being the type of thing you,re going to find. The atmosphere was pleasant, though the TVs showing football seemed to go against the micropub philosophy. Not amazing, but the best place that Redcar has offer.
UPDATE: The bottled beer selection has improved considerably with one shelf in the fridge dedicated to Het Uiltje beers. The best place for a decent beer in Redcar by a country mile. |
44 /100 Gypsy Rover (Bar) 60 STATION ROAD One of a rash of ’micropubs’ that has sprung up in the Teessidee area in recent year. Of all the ones I’ve visited, this one seems to have missed the point of being a micropub most of all. It offers only 2 real ales along with a real cider and lager was served. Neither of the ales were particularly interesting in style, but were from micros so there’s a good chance of finding something you’ve not tried before. There were also 3 fruit ciders in boxes on the bar. The bottle selection was extremely poor. A small selection of bottled ales available in any supermarket. On the plus side, the prices were keen with the ale costing £3 per pint. More a small pub than a true micropub, but worth stopping by for one if you’re in town. |
64 /100 Plimsoll Line (JDW) (Bar) 138-142 HIGH STREET EAST Located just a block back from the seafront amongst a cluster of pubs where the pedestrian centre turns into a road, this Wetherspoon pub has substantial ground floor space to accommodate both locals and tourists during the season. It extends through the building and there is a decent back garden area, although mostly brick and concrete it does provide a nice open air space. Inside the decor is familiar for this chain and there are two row of ale pumps at the bar. |
