“In an industrial unit directly next to the Gardener's Rest, the tap is in an attractive low-lit purpose built room, so not as cold a venue as some taps can be to try the current range of Heist brews or one of many guests.“

“Absolutely rammed on a Saturday night, but that's what we like to see in our beloved craft beer taprooms. This bar enjoys a popularity that their outfit in Clowne never did, although the formula is the same: good Heist beers, some weĺ-known guests, and all at a reasonable price. The 8 Heist beers were all available for £7.50 for 3 thirds; even the guest beers (from Attic and Pomona Island) were very reasonably priced. Seems to attract the younger crowd, and the bar staff certainly were working hard. A brilliant beer pub.“

“Basically an arcade with a taproom on steroids (30 beers on offer) plus a burger stand. Very long serving bar, electronic beer menus make it easy. Good variety of styles. Tap takeover with Verdant when I visited, so a dozen taps were given over to them. Servers knew the beers well. Flights of four are possible, pours are closer to 4 ounces than the usual British 1/3 of a pint. Beers were tasty and dirty fries were OK, I didn't try the burgers. Good place.“

“Pleasant community pub by the river, it does feel a little bit like a members club in design, but it's very friendly and has an excellent focus on cask.“

“A bit "rough around the edges" locals bar. Tap room for Toolmakers brewery beers. Quality ok, but 2 in our group were served a beer that was well past its best, however they were replaced with apologies!“

“I really liked this place, much better than the hubbub of Fat Cat. 4 Sheffield beers on and 4 guests. Friendly locals too.“

“Slightly off the beaten track so watch the opening hours! Several beers on offer though not many I had not tried before. Nicely done up since the flood (of 2007?)“

“Have visited this pub several times after it reopened after the flood. Very lovely and cosy place, friendly staff. On the taps they often have beers from the micros in the area and the beer is in good condition. The deko has a great sense of humour :-). Defently worth a visit whenever you are in Sheffield“

“I really, really liked this place. Great sense of light - from the big front windows, conservatory and of course in the wonderful garden, which backs onto a river. Comfortable furnishings, great range of quirky and interesting decor. A clean place, with fabulous garden, good range of handpulls, including 4 taps from house brewery Sheffield. Well worth the 10 min walk from the centre, and easily combined with a visits to the Wellington, Fat Cat, KIT, Hillsborough etc. My favourite place in Sheffield, which is no mean feat.“

“On our way through the Valley of Beer we moved from Wellington over the bridge to the other side of River Don for just a few minutes. This is another comfortable pub with at least eight hand pulled real ales in addition to a fine selection of continental bottled beers. Many of the cask ales came from The Sheffield Brewery Co. The two small rooms and the décor promoted a homely feel, and we really enjoyed the ambiance of the pub (visited 01.10.2010“

“First visit since pub reopened after flood. Structurally unchanged but the bar has been replaced with a more open, modern one whilst all bench seating is new. Comfortably furnished and lit; divided into three main drinking areas. Walls in main bar adorned with photographs from a local competition/exhibition on at the time. Impressive beer lineup; Twelve handpumps dispense up to 10 beers and two ciders, four ales were from the nearby Sheffield Brewing Company. All beers I tried were very well kept, and priced between £2 and £2.40. Live accoustic music staged most Fridays and some Saturdays: on my visit blues guitarrist Jim O’Mahoney was covering the likes of Bob Dylan and Ry Cooder. Check with pub for next gig, or see their website. Very friendly welcoming staff, with a determination to make this pub a success; I was very pleased to see it reopened and it deserves to succeed. “

“A great pub on the Sheffield crawl although has suffered badly from flood damage after the recent bad weather spell we have been having so good luck to this place and hopefully it will be up and running again soon. Serves a good range of guest beers plus some of it’s own Sheffield Brewery ones although as Gazza says these are not produced on site which after the damage to the place is a blessing really.“

“A relative newcomer to the Sheffield circuit, this place opposite the now-closed Stones brewery serves up some decent local and not-so-local beers and is a worthy visit whilst on the crawl - if you can be bothered to walk the ten minutes out here! Has recently begun brewing it’s own beers although not at the site under the Sheffield Brewery name.“
