ROYAL OAK
“One of those popular rural Shropshire pubs that has continually attracted locals and country pub aficionados over the years. Affectionately nicknamed the 'Tiddly', and in fact this seems more prominent on the sign outside than Royal Oak, and which also boasts the accolade as the 'Best Pub in Ellerdine', not exactly an enviable feat given it is also the only pub in Ellerdine. On entering you're greeted with a pool table, an increasing rarity nowadays, and further down the bar forms a reverse C in the room. 5 very local cask beers from nano-breweries Church Aston and Rowton, as well as Hobsons. Average £3.30 a pint! One box fruited cider. Elsewhere there's a log-fire, surrounded by a comfy seats and throws straight out of Grandma's front room, and adjacent dining area. Friendly place, engaging conversation from the barflies, outdoor seating with kids play area. Nice place.“

“First visit yesterday since we used to caravan on the field nearby around 10 years ago to attend cider festivals which the "Tiddly" was famous for. It is a friendly pub with a decent selection of ales, from Wye Valley, Hobsons, Rowton and Greene King. We selected a supurb Hobsons Plum Porter, and Rowtons Starlight which was a wee bit lacking in flavour. Pub itself is cosy and friendly with a large outside area to cater for all including families for when the weather is warmer.“

“Regular haunt of mine, can't believe I have never reviewed it. Farmers, rural people and I use this pub. It has decent food, good, well looked after Real Ales and friendly locals/staff/dogs. Proper country feel to the place, even with the fairly new (8 years old?) modern extension for foodie tables.“

“Visited on 12th June 2016. Pub locally known as the Tiddly, this is a nice venue tucked away about 10 mins from Wellington. It’s got 3 rooms, one of which is a dining room that was decorated for the Queen’s 90th birthday celebration. 2 rooms surround the bar which has 6 handpulls on. 3 regular beers including one from Tring brewery and 3 guests. Tried one of the guests (Coastal) and was well priced and in decent condition. Place was busy and is clearly a popular locals pub. It’s a nice venue. Do pop in if you have the chance.“
