pdog555 (2001) - Connecticut, USA - DEC 8, 2023UPDATED: DEC 8, 2023 Aroma of caramel, some toasted barley. Pours dark brown with reddish tinge and a fluffy tan head. Taste has some dark fruits, but mostly more chocolate and caramel, lightly malty. Palate has more residual malt.
BineChalice28 (103) - - APR 13, 2021UPDATED: APR 13, 2021 I won't be drinking this again, but it does have a GREAT look to it, too bad the taste doesn't match.
alexsdad06 (17966) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 8, 2021UPDATED: APR 8, 2021 This is a backlog rating from 2013 from a bottle shared by Tmoney99, from notes. When I had this beer it was average to below average for the style and not something I wanted to have again or I just didn't get back to my notes because of my technology at the time, work and/or family. Words to describe this beer are roasted malts, thin black coffee, slightly nutty, decent for a low abv Schwartzbier.
GregMooreNH (9298) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - APR 6, 2020UPDATED: APR 6, 2020 Pours black with three finger, tan head. Aroma is roast and caramel. Taste is chocolate and caramel, moving to roast. Finish is chocolate, roast and caramel. Good schwarz.
Andrew196 (2500) - Katy, Texas, USA - DEC 22, 2019UPDATED: DEC 22, 2019 Dark cola in color, nicely contrasted ivory colored head. Nose is toasty coffee, nuttiness, marshmallow. Crisp, dry coffee, well balanced, agreeable bitterness with a hoppy edge.
SourSampler44 (1) - - OCT 3, 2019 does not count UPDATED: OCT 3, 2019 A terrific black lager when you are counting calories (just 125) and wanting a low abv (just 4). Almost stout-like with coffee notes and a great mouth feel. Bonus: Unita brews using renewable energy.
explosivedog (12957) - New York, New York, USA - JUL 18, 2019UPDATED: JUL 18, 2019 Bottle. Pours black. Chocolate, roast, little dark fruits, little toastiness. Creamy body. Well balanced and well made.
Jabah (2555) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - APR 4, 2019UPDATED: APR 4, 2019 One of the nicer ones that I had in this style. Light but has some decent chocolate malt flavor in there. Good balance with just enough hop to offset. Tastes like you are almost drinking a stout, but feels light a light lager so can drink a lot of them. Only sampled a single, but I would get more of this.... especially when I want dark beer in the summer.
Davhgbrew (1071) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 31, 2019UPDATED: JAN 31, 2019 unroasted malt, burnt, dry, and bitter. Creamy mouthfeel, but a more thin palate in the middle and finish. Very clean and sessionable, lager like. No sweetness, not heavy chocolate or coffee, mostly dark malt and roasted unmalted barley. Can doesn't show the abv, but I would guess it's in the 5.5 range.
b_nice (2) - - SEP 5, 2018 does not count UPDATED: SEP 5, 2018 Aroma is low and pours to a nice deep black with ok head retention. The taste was a little in expected as I was looking for a Schwartzbier but it’s more of a black rauchbier with the subtle hint of smoke in the background. Overall a great beer and will be in my normal rotation if available in my area.
