Iphonephan (11429) - JACKSON HOLE, Wyoming, USA - OCT 13, 2018From a 450 ml bottle purchased in some remote location NW of Hanoi. Pours a clear gold with an off white head. Aroma of grain and bread. Malty sweetness with scan bitterness. One of the better Vietnamese lagers.
3,6/10
ineedbeer (3836) - California, USA - NOV 25, 2017This is now available in 330 ml cans (green vs red for 4.6% version).
Aroma is malt and rice forward. Hints of floral esters and hops. No phenolics.
Pours a very clear gold color with a small, thick, white head that recedes steadily to the edges where it lingers for a bit. Light lacing and no legs.
Flavor is somewhat sweet with light grain and moderate rice notes. Hints of white bread as well. Light floral ester and hop notes. Hints of herbal phenolics.
Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth.
Overall, not a great beer. Too much rice character and the 4.6% version is noticeably better. Nothing overly offensive though and it is easy drinking.
Piepenhenrich (3428) - Oberursel, GERMANY - OCT 13, 2017Even for Vietnamese standards not my first choice. On a global level this is a below average Lager. Just about drinkable when served chilled.
futre7 (386) - Taipei, TAIWAN - AUG 20, 2017Pho restaurant near the 101 in Taipei, Taiwan. Okay, maybe I had a bad one. It looked okay and smell ok but it tasted like a beer running through poor pipes. It had that cheesy, yeasty flavour that a beer gets when all is not well. It was kind of refreshing but that taste was too cloying. It brought back too many bad memories of badly contained beer.
mcberko (41909) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 26, 2017Bottle at Le Pub, pours a clear piss yellow with a small white head. Aroma is restrained, with sweet cereal malt and straw. Flavour is refreshing, with straw, rice and sweet cereal notes. Clean and refreshing, but it’s a standard lager.
Nevalainen (1255) - FINLAND - JUL 13, 2017Clear golden color with tiny white head. Aroma of malt, little yeast, rice. Taste is light to medium bitter with watery finish. Average carbonation. Ok.
