UPDATED: JAN 26, 2017 Light pear aroma, the taste is pear and a hint of cantaloupe with a nice heat in the finish. Also tried it warmed up when it gets a fried apple taste, but it’s much more enjoyabe chilled. I really like the bottle which looks very much like a well designed oil can.

Bottle (oil can?) from Sakaya, 08/09/2015. Clear pour. Aroma of cantaloupe, watered-down pineapple, canned fruits, full-bodied rice. Taste is pear, cantaloupe, mildly sweet rice, mellow heat in the finish. Full, clean and smooth body, slightly oily. Decent overall.

This oil can of sake has been staring me down for weeks and since the wife is out at work event figured I bes hit this puppy up. Pours slighty greenish yellow water. Nose is tropical fruit and some wood. Tastes of pineapple, pears, doughy, touch of cedar, red bull, and of course rice. Palate is slightly oily with only faint alcohol on finish.

Bottle at Izakaya Seki. Clear water pour. Sweet red cherry nose with vanilla and pineapple. Taste is has small amount of vodka booziness, mild alcohol heat, some pineapple rum. Finish is clean, sweet, refreshing. Not super tropical, but certainly not heavy starchy and alcoholic.

Glass at Sakagura. Pours clear. Clean and pure on the nose, but really not much going on save for the faintest melon notes. Sweet warm rice, sweet banana fruit and a touch of pudding and toastiness on the finish.
