COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rich, full-bodied English-style bitter made from a blend of two-row malts, including pale malt, crystal malt (for body and residual sweetness) and chocolate malt (for its rich flavour and colour). A last small addition of malted wheat helps deliver its pleasing head. Hopping is done to 30 IBUs using a combination of North American Williamette and Fuggle varieties, and English Goldings. Water is softened for this brew in the manner of southern English bitters, making it very smooth and refreshing.

UPDATED: AUG 22, 2019 I am a real fan of bitters, but found this one very light. It had a good maltiness, but seemed very thin on the palate.

Jerseyislandbeer (4844) - JERSEY - MAY 11, 2019
UPDATED: MAY 11, 2019 A 650ml bottle, 5.0 ABV, it was a gift from friends who visited Nova Scotia. It pours a copper colour with a loose cream coloured head. Aroma has lots if bread with sweet grains, biscuit & toffee. Tastes of toffee, hay & straw with sweet grains, mild roast and a touch of biscuit leading to a very well balanced malt medium bitter finish. Different bottle of beer in my home No. 1274

Pours a rich brown from a bottle. Roasty toast aroma, flavor adds nicely almost smoky toffee. Good bitterness, pretty good beer all around.

Bierdimpfe (640) - Quebec, CANADA - APR 29, 2017
Hazy copper color with low activity. Soft creamy light brown 2 finger head that last 5 minutes. Flavors of toffee, dark grains, molasses, raisins, plums, berries, herbal spices. Some bready sweetness, but densely bitter and hoppy. Slick medium body with light prickly, soft crispy carbonation. Medium to strong strength, straw and roasted malts, leafy hops, and burnt ester sugars. Lacks balance and proper intensity. Not sharp enough, nor delicate. Quite bold and over intensified. Doesn’t feel very fresh, with a thick wet straw feel. Decent taste and a nice maillard smell. Overall okay quality craft.

decaturstevo (6342) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - OCT 5, 2016
Deep amber pour with creamy white head and lace. Aroma is sweet malt front with a touch of earthy/floral hops. Flavor is sweet malt with a touch of peatiness that seems a bit out of place. A touch of toffee and a dry perfumy finish. Medium bodied and a touch fizzy. A solid bitter finish. ESB I’m not sure but an OK drinker
