UPDATED: DEC 27, 2022 “Große Freude herrscht bei der Familienbrauerei Bauhöfer über die Silber-medaille für den Ulmer Maibock beim World Beer Cup 2012 in Amerika. “ dementsprechend hoch sind meine Erwartungen. also Drehverschluss aufgedreht und los geht's! Der Geruch nach Gras und Karamell lässt viel erhoffen. die goldgelbe Färbung ist zwar ungewöhnlich aber schön anzuschauen. Der feinporige Schaum ist nicht von Dauer. die rezens ist frisch und gut ausgebildet , so dass dieses Starkbier nicht an Süffigkeit verliert. der Antrunk und Abgang haben keine hervorstechenden Geschmacksnoten. was das Bier aber zur Auszeichnung brachte und die Besonderheit ist, ist die hintergründige Würze, die ich leider bis zum Ende der Flasche nicht ergründen konnte. Diese Verzögerung und Spannung unterscheidet den Ulmer Maibock von anderen Böcken. 05-2018

UPDATED: MAR 13, 2020 I have purchased this bottle, at Fristo&Misto, Freiburg am Breisgau, in january 2020. I have drunk and tasted this bottle, on wednesday, at home, Epalinges. The body is yellow/gold and clear, average carbonation, thin and white foam. In my point of view, it is a honest maibock, there is a certain side of warm alcool, malty, sweet, touch of honey, bready, hop for lager at the final, well balanced, interesting from this small brewery.

Robe blond paille, forte effervescence, mousse fine. Nez fleuri, malté. Goût malté puissant, dense, légère amertume en fin de bouche.

0.33l screw-top bottle from rewe in lörrach. pours a clear golden with a medium head. mild aroma of biscuit, bread, a hint of honey and perfume. flavour of honey, bread, pears. malty oily mouthfeel. alcohol is well hidden.

(screw cap bottle) Clear, pale golden colour with a blond mid-sized foamy head. Slightly biscuity malty aroma with a minor grainy touch as well as grassy hops in the background. Moderately sweet flavour, medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Strawy malty and slightly biscuit taste with a whiff of honey and grassy hops towards the moderately sweet and slightly bitter finish with a touch of alcohol shining through. Not a hit, just solid. 31.X.16

Enjoyed: Poured from a bottle into a mug. Appearance: Bright golden/yellow colour, with small short-lived foam. Aroma: Hint of hops, malt and alcohol. Palate: Watery; medium carbonation. Taste: Sweet, with moderate bitter aftertaste. Overall impression: Solid beer for enjoyment; not a thirst-fighter.
