From old tasting notes. Pale gold with a big bubbly white head. Tart grainy malt aroma. Tang malt flavor. Some bitter hops in midtaste and finish. Brief dry aftertaste.

Burk i Changchun. Ljust gul med vitt skum. Lätt citrusdoft. Lätt beska och småstad smak.

500ml can from a local shop in Changchun, China. Pale yellow, minimal head. Vague taste of something. Not great.

very nondescript, clear light yellow and very effervescent, almost tasteless. at least you know it will not give you the green apple two-step.

My label looks different with banquet beer written on it. Pale yellow golden with a moderate bubbly white cap. Low aroma of sweet grains. Watery grainy palate. A little corny. Generally what I expected.

I don’t have a clue where I got this and I just found it at the back of my cupboard... whatever. Very pale straw colour. Aroma is lightly cidery and a bit malty. Very watery and not very good. Cidery and a bit acidic. An odd tropical fruitiness. Blah.

I think this is the beer I had basd on an article in Forbes... I remember the bottle having the words the official chinese banquet beer written on it... and the Forbes article said this was the beer, but I miht be wrong. Anyway if this was the beer, it was really pale, small head. Slightly sweet and so on. Not bad, but nothing good. Found in a Chinatown.

Is this beer like Tsingtao regular. It was cheaper than Tsingtao beside it. Cheaper than the local korean beers. Somewhere in between the two in taste. Worth a try if its cheap as dirt.

Canned. Pale golden, clear, no head. No aroma. Very light bodied with thin but rounded mouthfeel. Possible there’s a very light hint of wheat malt. No bitterness. I’m glad that Carrefour in Beijing offered an English translation of the name on their shelves, as otherwise there’d been no way I’d been able to know that this was indeed a wheat beer.

Yellow-gold colour, no head. Smells like a mixture of white wine and pineapple juice. Tastes like pineapple juice and crappy lager. Usually, when the Chinese make a pineapple beer (and they do) it says so right on the can.

Interesting, being from China, but a poor substitute for a real beer. I honestly only tried it because it was cheap and contained alcohol, and it served only a very basic purpose. Kind of a strangely sweet, fruity flavor. Not at all hoppy and not something I particularly cared for. But hey, did I mention it was on sale?

Your average Chinese lager. More malty with a bit more body then the American mainstream.

Hell yeah, brother. "China''s State Banquet Beer". What exactly is a banquet beer? I expected a lite beer flavor, which is a contradiction of terms, but this was pretty tasteful, maybe not really tasty, but it did have flavor. It''s reminiscent of a pilsener, with a decidedly german flavor. I''d bet they used Saaz hops. The beer is a beautiful bright gold color. I was expecting absolutely nothing, and I guess i was pleasantly surprised. Drink out of a pilsen or hefe glass.

The label says that this is "China's State Banquet Beer" - oh I feel so sorry for them! This stuff is thin, watery, weak, full of sugary fakeness, lacking hops, no head, no lace, and for an extra kick of krappy-ness, it's packaged in a green bottle! It gets a "3" for impression only because I will never forget it!
