1.8 Laguna Beach Blackball Lager Really disappointed in this beer. Aroma was very mild and the appearance was not crisp. It was hyped to me but the balance was off. Sunday, July 24, 2011

3 Laguna Beach Grateful Red Imperial Red Ale Pleasant malty brew with nicely balanced hops. Plenty of kick up front but a little lacking in depth of finish. Monday, November 20, 2006

3.2 Laguna Beach Thousand Steps Stout On tap at the brewpub. Pours the color of root beer, but topped with a fabulously thick, creamy tan head. Light aromas of milk chocolate, malt balls, and a touch of vanilla. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Rather sweet flavors with a touch of sour fruits, suggesting apricots sauteed in a dry chardonnay, making a very odd, but interesting flavor dimension for a sweet stout. The finish brings out more of the chocolate and classic oatmeat stout flavors. Saturday, July 29, 2006

3.7 Laguna Beach Grateful Red Imperial Red Ale On tap at the brewpub. Pours the color of a deep crimson sunset topped with a finger of foamy ivory head. Nice hoppy aroma balanced by some caramel sweetness and a touch of cayenne pepper. Full bodied, richly carbonated mouthfeel that brings plenty of flavors to the palate. Nice balance of malty tones, sweetness, hop bitterness, and even some spice. Caramels, christmas fruit cake, raspberries, and ruby red grapefruit hop characters stand out as unique on the palate. Quite tasty, and the alcohol is well hidden for such a big bodied beer. Saturday, July 29, 2006

3 Laguna Beach Old St. Barts Winter Ale On tap at the brewpub. Pours a light translucent color of mahogony tinged amber with a very light dusting of a ring of bubbly head. Interesting aroma of cinnimon spice and brown sugar, topped off with a squeeze of lemon juice. Medium bodied mouthfeel with minimal carbonation. Loads of fresh ginger is immediately detectable on the palate, along with more lemon sourness, some funk, and a touch of grassy hops toward the finish. Quite interesting and polarizing, but well worth the try. Saturday, July 29, 2006

3.1 Laguna Beach Rockpile Red Clear yellow appearance. Malty, grainy aroma with noticeable raspberry. Raspberry dominates flavor, but its a very light bodied palate and works pretty well. Reminds me a little of Saxer Lemon Lager which worked for the same reasons. Wednesday, August 24, 2005

3.1 Laguna Beach Blonde Lager Clear yellow appearance. Grainy, biscuity (ale like) aroma. Light refreshing palate, nothing offensive, dry, mildly grainy, clean slightly fruity finish. Sweet aftertaste. Wednesday, August 24, 2005

3.1 Laguna Beach Greeters Pale Ale On tap. I got the sampler at this brewery/restaurant while watching a football game there. This APA is not their best brew; they have a very good Red Ale and a Belgian that is quite nice as well. This APA is fairly typical but had just a bit of something odd, paper-like in the finish. Probably worth another try. Monday, January 26, 2004

3.5 Laguna Beach Greeters Pale Ale (tap) I found Laguna Beach BC, and headed it. I only had time to have one beer and decided for the Pale Ale. The head was... pretty un-beer like, reminded me of pop or macro-brewed beer. It was cloudy, dirty brownish color. So, first impression wasn't all that good. But it was fresh, a typical pale ale flavor. Nice aroma, nice hoppiness. It was really quite enjoyable. Wish i had had time for another. Monday, June 9, 2003
