Tapping Party With New Brewmaster

Details

Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery is ushering in a new era this spring with the addition of brewmaster Chris Rafferty, who comes to the River North microbrewery from Rock Bottom’s Arlington, Virginia location. Rafferty will get to show off his beer-making skills at an exclusive tapping party taking place from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 20.

Rafferty has been making beer since 1994, when he got his start at Tennessee’s first microbrewery in Nashville. Since then, he has worked at various microbreweries and joined the Rock Bottom team in 2006. To explain his brewing philosophy, Rafferty says he seeks to “honor the traditions of my trade, but embrace the progress and change that is a vibrant part of contemporary craft brewing.” His beers have been awarded several gold medals at the Real Ale Festival, Great American Beer Festival and World Beer Cup competitions.

The experienced brewmaster will release his “My Oh My Belgian Rye” beer during the tapping party. Rafferty describes his creation as “medium bodied and copper colored, with notes of spice imparted from malted and unmalted rye, complimented by a minty hop character.”

Rock Bottom’s monthly tapping parties, along with lots of other insider events, are open to members of its “Mug Club.” Anyone (21+) can join by signing up in person at Rock Bottom.
