Pilsner Beer Tasting
Details
Mass-produced American lagers give the true Pilsener style a bad name, but there are plenty of examples that redeem the style. Tonight we’ll be pouring authentic examples from Bohemia and Germany with a few American interpretations. First up is Staropramen, a classic Bohemian example featuring a well-rounded body and complex malty flavor. Then we’ll compare with Victory’s Prima Pils for a stateside example. From northern Germany is Jever, an uber-dry, straw colored and mildly bitter Pils. Then we’ll be pouring two unique and hoppy American examples: Sierra Nevada’s Summerfest, a West Coast favorite featuring all old-world ingredients; and Ninkasi’s Sterling Pils featuring ingredients entirely from the Northwest.
Cost: $3
