History & Hops featuring Smuttynose

Details

The next session of History & Hops features Smuttynose Brewing Company from Portsmouth NH. Smuttynose’s roots go back to the earliest days of craft brewing in the Northeast, but they’re on the verge of launching themselves into an exciting new chapter in their fresh, unfiltered brewing story, with a brand new, energy-stingy brewery and pub under construction now on a 14 acre farm in the New Hampshire countryside.

Smuttynose brews over 25 different beer styles each year, ranging from classic styles, archetypal seasonals, extreme beers and sour releases. All of their beers are unfiltered and many have won awards from or been recognized by The Great American Beer Festival, The Great British Beer Festival, Esquire Magazine and the New York Times. Field Sales Manager, Glen Bulloss will lead you through a tasting of longtime Smuttynose favorites such as Finestkind IPA and Robust Porter as well as the Big Beer favorite, Really Old Brown Dog.

Heurich House staff and volunteers will provide tours of the Brewmaster’s Castle with a focus on its owner and the history of the historic Chr. Heurich Brewing Co.

History & Hops is a monthly series at the Heurich House Museum, the former Dupont Circle home of D.C.’s most successful brewer Christian Heurich. Every third Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30pm, the museum partners with a local craft brewery for house tours and beer tastings.
