Join us for the Tacoma release of 2014 Reunion dark ale, our annual collaboration with Terrapin Beer Company. This year’s recipe includes cocoa nibs, cinnamon, vanilla, roasted coffee, and toasted coconut, and as always weighs in at a hefty 8% ABV.

Reunion is brewed annually in memory of Virginia MacLean, a dedicated supporter of cancer research who lost her own battle with multiple myeloma in 2007 and a dear friend and co-worker of Alan Shapiro and Pete Slosberg (creator of Pete’s Wicked Ale). As a tribute to Virginia, a portion of the proceeds from Reunion Ale is donated to the Institute for Myeloma & Bone Cancer Research (IMBCR) in her name.

We’ll also be pouring 2013 Reunion (without the toasted coconut), along with a special keg of Mazel Hops (a micro-release double IPA that’s not available in stores), Rejewvenator Dubbel Doppel (a Belgian-style ale made with wine grapes and lager yeast), and our Death of a Contract Brewer black IPA. All of which taste fantastic, especially when paired with one of the Red Hot’s 18 delicious sausages!

Alan Shapiro will be attending, and we’ll be auctioning of a special 3-liter magnum of 2014 Reunion ($100 value) as part of the fundraising effort, along with various Shmaltz / He’Brew shwag. Our goal is to raise $500 by the end of the event. Plus, the folks at The Red Hot have graciously committed to donating $1 from every pint of Reunion (2014 and 2013) sold to the IMBCR. So come on down to The Red Hot and drink some great beer for a great cause!
