"The Return of the Lager"

We are happy to announce that Főzdefeszt – the greatest and most important craft-beer event of Hungary - will be organized on the second weekend of June at the Grand Meadow at Városliget for the 11th time.

Though Hungary is teeming with festivals big and small, Főzdefeszt continues to preserve its leading role as the most visited and the best value for money festival among all the others. We usually have around 40 000 visitors in 3 days all curiouis to sample not only the beers offered at more than 50 stands, but the exclusive and ever changing street-food presented by Budapest’s best vendors and foodtrucks.

For the past few years, as it grew big, Főzdefeszt became and international beer-garden with many importers, and a lot of Belgian and Czech classics. Now Hungarian craft-beer scene has caught up and with all the new-born breweries, and the sheer amount of beer brewed in Hungary, we will be able to satify our visitors, so we decided to return to our roots and focus on Hungarian brewing one again, and less on the great classics of the beer-world, while definitely showing some of the most ineteresting novelties of European craft-brewing.
After years of experimenting we decided to abandon the use of festival-card, so 11th Főzdefeszt will be a cash-festival again!

The subtitle of our Festival is „The Return of the Lager”! We want to draw attention to the style of beer we drink the most of, that has been our bread and butter for the last 150 years. Lager has suffered a loss of prestige in the last years due to its mistreatment by some big beer-factories. But now when the feverish days of beer-revolution has passed, and we have all upgraded our tastes with IPAs and ales, it’s time to upgrade our lagers to fit our elevated quality-demads, so we called our breweries to brew th ebest lager they can think of!

Főzdefeszt is your chance to have a new-wave craft-beer and street-food picnic as a season-opener in Budapest’s most beautiful park – and also your last chace to see the park in its original condition before it goes through a major development!
