Heurich House Museum hosts their 5th annual Christkindlmarkt

For the fifth year, Dupont Circle holiday shoppers can experience a festive German-style market, the Heurich House Museum’s Christkindlmarkt, on Friday, December 1st through Sunday, December 3rd, 2017. Craft makers based in DC, Maryland, and Virginia will sell their goods during this celebratory holiday event held in the museum’s Castle Garden. Visitors can also tour the historic home of the Heurich family that will be decorated for Christmas.

Dupont Circle’s only holiday market features goods from local artisans, including jewelers, ceramicists, bakers, makers of housewares, and more. The historic home of DC’s most successful brewmaster, Christian Heurich will be decorated for the holidays by local florist and artist, Sarah King.

Friday evening, December 1st from 4-9pm, the museum will feature products Made in DC. On Saturday, December 2nd and Sunday, December 3rd from 11am-5pm, the museum will feature products made all over the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. Pop-up performances will take place throughout the weekend.

On Saturday and Sunday, shoppers interested in a special intimate experience can upgrade their tickets and attend a quiet VIP Shopping Hour from 10-11am. VIPs will have exclusive access to talk to the makers themselves and get first pick of items while avoiding the lines and crowds. This year, VIP tickets will also include a special present from the museum gift shop. The museum will open at 11am, so VIPs can also be first to see the seasonally decorated home. VIP tickets are limited to 75 guests each day.

Also new this year, guests can purchase full weekend tickets, allowing entry to the market from Friday through Sunday.

Advanced purchase tickets are available online until 5pm on November 30th, after which they will be sold at the door only. Admission fee includes all-day admission to the market and one daily entry to the historic Heurich home. Food and refreshments (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) will be available for purchase at the market.

Admission is $10 for adults, $2 for children (2-12) and $15 for the VIP Shopping Hour. Full weekend passes are $20 for adults, $4 for children (2-12) and $30 for the VIP Shopping Hour on Saturday and Sunday.

About Heurich House Museum
Since 2011, when new leadership took control of the Heurich House Museum, the organization has been transformed into a modern and sustainable museum whose mission celebrates local DC history and creative economy in one of the city's most important architectural landmarks. The mansion, located at 1307 New Hampshire Avenue NW in Dupont Circle, was built in the 1890’s by German immigrant, local brewer, and philanthropist Christian Heurich. Recognized as Washington, DC’s most successful brewer, he ran the Chr. Heurich Brewing Co., the city’s longest-operating brewery, until his death at 102.

The individual programs the Heurich House Museum has established not only sustain the organization and support its mission, but also help uplift other DC communities. The Museum operates an arts and humanities incubator, Brewmaster Studios, which provides low cost or space-for-trade to local makers, entrepreneurs, and scholars, and has formed deep relationships with the local craft beer community that provides tremendous support through partnership programs like Oktoberfest and History & Hops.
