Hi,

What to do when a beer actually exists in different variantions, but at ratebeer is has only one entry which then presumably contains a mix of ratings for the different varieties.

The beer in question exists in 2 (or 3) different bottled varieties and one draft variety.

Best regards, Honymand

Define "variety."

Mention all the beers specifically and we can help you.

A lot of the beers from danish brewery "Skovlyst", but specifically "Egebryg". It exists as a draft version produced ocasionally from 2004 and 3 different bottled versions. A bottled version produced from 2004-2008 may be identical to the draft as it was brewed at the premises in Denmark. Another version was brewed on a license in Poland from 2008-2010. A finally a new version is now brewed on a license in Poland from 2013.

This is also clear from the reviews by the way. At least the draft version and the 2008-2010 bottle version were very different, as the draft version was a proper "rauchbier" while the bottled version wasn’t.

I think they were all intended from the brewer to be the same beer, so they are all rated as the same beer. No danes have discovered that they were different, but thats is not 100% proof.
The only way to be sure in to confirm at the brewery.

That at the least is not true for the 2013 edition which come with both a new bottle and a new label, and where the previous ones were simply named "Egebryg" the 2013 edition is named "Egebryg Golden Classic". The description on the brewery’s webpage is also changed - no more mention of rauchbier.
