So. Sometimes I buy several singles from Total Wine, with the intention of drinking one on Saturday, one on Sunday, and then the rest at the end of the week - not before Wednesday. But then I get a "craving" and I drink the next one on Monday night. Now while I do not drink heavily, some say when you have a craving, that is a warning sign. Naturally I was concerned - am I becoming an alcoholic?

O’douls Amber Ale gave me a chance to check.

Yes, the "beer: in my fridge that Monday night was an O’Douls. Almost no alcohol. But. A tick. More important, a style tick. My 71st. and yup, the craving was there. And I couldn’t resist, I drank the O’Douls. When I finished my rating, and saw my styles number go from 70 to 71 - ahhhh!

Like most addicts, I was immediately focused on my next hit - Eisbock, here we come.

Low-abv ticks are ticks, brother. Plus, they’re usually cheaper, which is nice.

If I was forced to give up beer, which will never happen God willing, that would be in my lineup.

Bitburger Drive is actually a good tasting beer. It’s expensive tho.

You’re both wrong!

If craving for beer ends with cheap lager that’s a sign of alcoholism...

I look forward to my daily rate which I tend to enjoy while cooking and then eating dinner. Just the one, it’s good to take it easy and really taking my time over it. I cannot see the harm even if it is a little addictive. It’s all part of the rhythm of living and it relaxes me. There are worse things you could be doing.

Hello OnTheTrail! Thank you for sharing.

I am also a tickoholic. When asked, by a bartender trying to figure out what beer to get me, what kind of beer I like, my usual response is, "The one I haven’t tried before."

Ask for a Chocolate Brownie flavoured Light Lager and see if he’s got one.
