It is not in the main area of Asheville. There were plenty of games to play. It resembles more of an open converted garage. The staff was friendly.

About a mile off the beaten path of Asheville brew craziness. Not worth the side trip if you are looking for good craft. Beers are okay. Staff is helpful.

Dropped in right at opening on a Thurs and basically had the run of the place getting our day drink on. Ponied up a buck for a membership. Beer was good. Laid back garagey place with ping pong, fusball, etc... Bartender was courteous but didn’t schmooze us much or give us much info about the place though we asked a few questions. Tasty beer. with a mix of their own and guest taps plus a bunch of bottles. \ Average prices.

Set in a happening part of town. Stage for live music, 20 taps of which 5 are house selections. Hipster crowd with friendly bar staff.

Despite having a parking lot, parking can be a challenge here because it’s a crowded part of town, but it’s worth the effort. There is a patio with a few tables, but the place itself is wide open to the elements, garage style with the door open. Performance stage. L-shaped bar. Very friendly staff and locals. Their beers are very tasty, but to try them you have to join their private club. It’s a buck a year, so save your money. Hopefully someone will change these archaic laws now that Prohibition is officially over. Nice stop.

the garage setting gives this place kind of a dive bar feel which is cool. They don’t serve any food so you have to go through the membership scheme which is slightly annoying. The beers were decent but nothing really made an impression. I’d probably be more likely to come here to drink the guest taps and hang out then sample their beer,.

Yet another converted garage, which is cool. Really laid back vibe, lots of locals (and their dogs). The bartender was friendly and really knew her beer (but I think she said she has a new job...). There were 4 house beers and plenty of guest taps.

Altamont occupies what looks like an old garage on the roadside in west Asheville. The brewery is at one end of the room and the bar at the other. It felt a bit rough and ready, scruffy almost, but I imagine I’m being picky and this is what passes for "cool" in these parts. The barmaid was certainly cool (for which read aloof) rather than friendly at first but she warmed up a bit as time went on and the other customers and their dogs were pleasant enough. The beer list was quite extensive - twelve guest taps and four of their own beers. (Visited 10 February 2014).

Newish brewery in a taphouse that has been open a couple of years. Big open space, definite garage feel, complete with garage door, ping pong, foosball. Decent sized bar with some tables. Lots of NC craft beer on tap, including one from Brevard brewing which was cool because I’ll be in Brevard tomorrow, but will have to leave before they open. Four of their house beers on tap... average quality with some flaws in a couple. I ran into the bartender and who I gathered was the front of house manager and both were just about as friendly as possible. Very limited food options, and pricy, but it’s all cured meat, which I dig. Small parking lot which will not accomadate their capacity and beer prices were good. I like these people and I really hope their house beer improves, but even now it’s a great place to have a beer.

This brewery serves as a bar first. They put a lot of effort into making this a fun community place to hang out. It’s open late every night, the open warehouse-type space is dog friendly, they have free foosball and table tennis and frequently have live music. Food is not available save for beef jerky. There are only six house ales on so far and they are very run of the mill. I tried the IPA and porter and wasn’t too excited about either, though they weren’t bad. There are more guest taps which run a respectable gamut of styles and of course are only craft or import. This is a pretty cool place to come hang out in West Asheville.
