62 Visited on a Friday evening. They have a nice quiet garden out back, the place was not so busy considering the hour. The kölsch is not super classic but quite tasty, and the prices are good. We got some pretty friendly service. Didn’t try the food. Might not return, but it was a fun stop. |
74 One of the better kölsches for my palate, crisp, woody, well-developed, it was a real surprise. Also the cheapest by a lot. This is away from the tourists but so close to walk... |
52 Visited at opening time on Saturday 27/04/13 just after 11am. We were first in the door for a quick breakfast kolsch and another party of 3 followed us in a few minutes later.
2 rooms with wooden floor scattered with sawdust - old skool !
Basic wooden benches and tables throughout, stained glass windows, some breweriana adorning the walls.
Service was a little slow - very un-Koln like, I don’t think they normally get a pair of tickers marching in at 11am! 1 kolsch and an aklofrei offering available.
About a 6 / 7 minute walkd from the HBF away from the tourist areas. |
60 I enjoyed their Kolsch in a nice traditional brewery tap. Not many tourists in here! |
60 Hard to find spot 10 minutes from Dom. Place was fairly quiet when visited. Beer was just OK. Service was average , did not care much for my presence. |
70 Kolsh is way better than the commercial examples (Fruh, Sion, Gaffel), very aromatic and offers a complex taste. Big tasting rooms comes with good service and a lively ambiance. Doesn’t feel like a tourist trap. |
64 Visited early friday. They are open from 11-14.30. Little over medicore Kolsch. Pleasant service. 10 minute walk from Heumarkt - 5 from the Dom. |
46 Schlechtes Kölsch, mittelmässiges Essen, Standardbedienung, dies alles in sehr gemütlicher Kulisse. Aber das reicht nicht um die Schreckenskammer zu einem Top-Lokal zu machen. |
72 Seems like a relaxing place with worn wood benches, chairs and tables. Beneath these is a well-worn somewhat sand covered wood floor. In the middle is an interesting, maybe antique, fireplace door. There are lots of beer steins up high along the wall going from plain to ornate to very old adding some charm. This is nice and relaxing while at the same time the touristy Kolsch serving spots are rammed packed. I like this atomsphere much better! |
72 This pub attracts locals more than tourists, which is refreshing. Decor is traditional for the area, nothing too flashy and tends to cater to people meeting old friends. The house Kölsch is very good. Not a standout, but a great quencher nonetheless. I would definitely come back here when in Cologne; it’s not too far of a walk behind the train station. |
76 Excellent, must-visit place in Cologne for the beer loving tourist. A bit outside the tourist area and definitely a place for the locals. Excellent kölsch, good food, and attractive prices. |
