70 A decent member of the Nicholson’s family. It has a nice interior, although with the ample crowds that can often be found here, the decor is obscured. The beer range isn’t bad, although not terribly exciting. A visit here would likely yield a new rate or two - from the realm of bitters and golds or, if you’re lucky, a porter. Average prices for this chain. Pretty good service. Not a must-visit pub, but an alright option in this area. |
42 A busy and ok but fairly nondeScript pub with a decent selection of craft beers on tap - but then, most London pubs have caught up on the beer revolution. Almost next door to Liberty’s, it’s no wonder they’re busy. |
64 Lovely old Victorian style pub in the back streets separating Regent from Carnaby Street. It’s a well-known enough place though so don’t expect to have it to yourself at any point throughout the day. Has a decent range of ales but you wouldn’t expect anything less of a Nicholson’s pub. |
70 One of the better Nicholsons. 12 handpumps offer a good variety of quality beers. |
70 The Clachan is wonderfully situated in the heart of Soho and just behind Liberty’s luxury store, which was also its former owner.
It has so much going for it that is sad to have to criticise, however justifiable the criticism may be.
I visited mid-afternoon on the 16th February and in the time I was waiting to be served I noticed one pony-tailed bar ’minder’ have to be reminded by several customers of their orders as her attention was ’elsewhere’; on two occasions she tried to hand the portable credit card reader to the wrong customer and the finally indulged in a long, open-mouthed and rather moist yawn over both a customer and the pint she was drawing!
On a busy Saturday afternoon this is not good.
I cannot but draw attention to yet another, otherwise excellent pub being let down by sloppy management and inattentive and badly trained staff. And where were the management on this occasion? Certainly not visible or obviously looking out for their customers best interests..
I trust that on my next visit my comments will be more positive. |
54 The pub is a short stroll of Regent Street in a backstreet.Plenty of rooms. Chain-pub and lacks atmosphere in my opinion, nut on the other hand they have decent selection of proper ales on tap. |
46 One of the dizens of pubs close to Regent Street. Poor selection, yet appealing certainly for the tourists. Service so and so. |
52 a few casks, a couple of bottles such as SNPA, clientele can be rowdy, and staff can get a bit rude. |
36 This place is too hit and miss, sometimes good other times awful beer. Shame as its in a handy position for Regents St. |
74 The place is crazy busy, but has a nice selection of 8 or so cask ales (with 6 rotating depending on the season. Other than being a bit too busy, it had good/popular music and friendly servers. The food was a disappointment but they were out of all pies - which they claim to be their specialty. |
