I had such a wonderful Meal here and a fantastic time in general. Went for lunch so the sun was out and we were eating outside. Chris was a fantastic host, and treated us like old friends. the food was excellently prepared by his wife and as lunch was only 25 Euro for 5 courses and some wonderful beers that were all so thoughtfully paired with each course. After the meal Chris took us around town and bought rounds. A fantastic afternoon, great guy and perfect afternoon.

Very good food and nice and rare beers, perfect pairing. But there is something wrong in the ambiance (the interior decoration can much better, and the terrace is noisy like an ordinary bar). The service is acceptibale but the prices are very high.

Due to the fact I am new on Ratebeer i can’t hold giving this couple the perfect score. they are amazing we saw these couple serving a wonderful meal at Ebenezer’s in August where we were invited by friends and told them that we were going to Brussels for the beer fest. passing by the bistronoom we couldn’t ressist eating the smeus... HEAVEN!!! Chris served a beer from a brewery called Jan De Lichte wich is situated arround Brussels, main course was a wonderful fish dish: on skin baken seabass with balsamico that is prepared with old beersel lambic and served with a perfect tomato risotto as beer we had a glass of his house cuvee, perfect combination and a chocolate dessert with a oak aged cherry beer from a small brewery completed the fest for us simply the best meal we had in Belgium and a selection of amazing beers TOP !!!

At the Bistronoom the food is ultra fresh and of an exceptional quality, the beer selection is outstanding and from the most part served out of 75cl bottles. We took the Marktmenu ( all in ). 1) Aperitief Gueuze Tilquin Gamba à la plancha with tomato and rocket. Courgette soup with Witbier Blanche de Namur and Carpaccio de Boeuf with Oud Brugge cheese and a few drops of modena. They serve 3 types of home made bread, white bread with Westmalle Trippel, the multi grean bread with Orval and the brown bread made with Rochefort 10, fantastic texture and full of flavour. 2) Starters, Tartar from fresh tuna on a bed of Belgian andives and some hand peeled Ostend shrimps. Bavarios of gray shrimps topped with a delicat espuma. Open sushi filled with the caviar of the Northsea. The beer served with this trio was Jan de Lichte from Brouwerij de Glazen Toren. 3) Preparation of Pladijs with a crispy skin served on a coulis of red beetroot, aromatized with Liefmans fruitesse and topped of with mushrooms and tomate Col-Cassé. Next to it the Pladijs , they served a Royal portion of King Crab with a Beurre Blanc au Porto. With this great dish we had a tasteful beer called Pier Kloeffe. We also wanted to taste the Star-dish of the restaurant, the famouse Smeus, this is a preparation of potatomash, refined with karnemelk and some other secret ingredients, it is served with a poched egg on top and garnished with a handfull of Ostends pride "The grey Shrimp". A dish to die for. We also had this in Ebenezers Pub, but there it was served with the fantastic Maine lobster. With this dish they served an interesting house beer "Cuvéé de Bistronoom". 4) Ready for some meat ? Ooooh Yeah. Porc Fillet cooked to perfection, moist and full of flavour and drizzled with a great jus enriched with beer called Aper Fumatis, the garnish was a hutspot like stomp with vegetables and mushrooms. With the meat we tasted the fantastic Ichtegems Oud Vlaams Bruin from 2006. Dessert was also great, icecream with pecheresse and a sauce of passion fruits, next to it, a crispy applepie with caramelized filo dough. We ended the night with a few more beers and went home with a fantastic feeling. TOP ! ! !

You must go to this place! The food is fantastic; everything is made with beer, even the bread. The owner served a number of beers with the meal, and each pairing worked beautifully - I would return to Ostend just to eat here again.

A hidden gem! I once had read about it in William Roelens newsletter and to my surprise it is really a top place! I would recommend the smeus and the Ostend oysters. Christophe, the owner knows what he is talking about. He presented some very nice beers, also from French Flanders. Will be back for more in the future.

Almost flawless seafood served with carefully selected beers from a friendly and knowledgable host. It is worth coming to Ostend just for lunch here. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Probably the best beer restaurant at the shore of the North Sea. By no means to be missed when beer-hunting (West-)Vlaanderen. Diligently and masterly prepared sea food, accompanied by intelligently and often surprisingly selected beers, poured mainly from big bottles. About which (i.e., the beers) the manager knows a lot to narrate. Would deserve a worthier, more spacious place (thence the deductions in "Ambiance" and "Service").
