Average looking brewpub, but pretty damn large. Beers are overall OK and the food were pretty good!

First stop on the drive to Asheville. In an odd part of Winston-Salem. Metered parking on the street, but there was a lot right around the corner. Pay station was out of order, so it was free, but it was oddly difficult to get to the main street from the parking garage. These people love fences. Once inside was nice enough. Old school tavern decor, pretty large bar with plenty of room in the mid afternoon. Good selection of taps, including BA Sexual Chocolate. I had a reasonably priced flight, including the beast, and proceeded to rate while reading work email on their guest wireless. Beers good to very good. Solid, if a bit stodgy, place.

Downtown location, I guess. Street/meter parking on Saturday morning. Got there for yoga (ish) and awesome sounding food truck. Wrong location. Maybe website needs a little work...Call it a big family area in the front, and a bar area in the back. Long bar plus a bunch of tables. Many TVs. Bit of a corporate or chain feel to the place. But food was amazing (Carolina Burger!!) and beer also very very good, so who really cares about anything else.

Foothills was quite a bit better under previous ownership however that said it is still pretty good. The food selection is always good and the beer on tap is generally a nice selection of a dozen or so offerings. They even keep Bud Light in bottle for those people whose palates suck at tasting. I recommend the Cuban sandwhich and a porter.

Excellent place to stop for brewskis and food. The server knew his brews and the food was good. Parking was a little sparse. We went late night during the week and I could see how it might be crowded on a Saturday.

Pretty big open space in the front, almost beer hall like with a bar in the back, about 12 beers on tap. Prices reasonable. Overall, I’d hang out here if I lived in WS.

We visited Foothills a few years ago in pre-Sexual Chocolate days and had a great time. Jamie the brewmaster was a delight to meet and, as we were on our way to a Ratebeer Summer Gathering, he went out of his way to fit out the boot of our hire car with a liner and ice so we could take some growlers along for the Grand Tasting. I was looking forward to going back but, perhaps inevitably, I was a little disappointed this time round. The place still looks similar, with a huge hall at the front, a low ceilinged, cosier bar beyond and the brewery at the back, but I couldn’t help feeling that it was, if not quite cookie-cutterish, much more corporate and had lost some its charm. It probably didn’t help that we arrived half way through quiz night and the staff, although friendly and efficient, were very busy. Nevertheless, the beers are still good - there were 8 regulars and two seasonals on tap (but sadly they were out of Sexual Chocolate) and the food was great. (Last visited 11 February 2014).

Huge place that feels more like a restaurant than bar/brewpub at first since the bar area is hidden in the back beyond dinner tables and booths. The big knock for me is that the tap list stays fairly stale: they’ll have a seasonal or two and all of their year-round stuff. The seasonals are all things you can get in the area. Other than the Sexual Chocolate release, I’ve yet to see a brewpub only release. With that in mind, I guess I haven’t seen a reason to visit Foothills when I know I’ll bump into any of the beers they’re pouring in any other bar in Winston-Salem.--- Updating this and bumping it up a few points after another visit. They had some more unique offerings on tap and said they were making more of an effort to have more special offerings at the brewpub. Here’s hoping this trend continues!--- Update 2: bumping it up more since this trend has continued. They’ve really improved the rotating selection to keep locals interested, including an IPA of the month series for 2014 and a Foot Men series of pub-only drafts!

finally made it here. walked in the front door to a huge open dining room. notice and upstairs but was informed it was for private partys. several table outside on nice days or night and for smokers. the bar area was big and woody, lots of wood throughout. bartenders melane and Stephanie were great. got the sampler 11 4oz beers for $12.99 all pretty solid except one. the food we had ostrich burger and fish and chips were both very good. overall very good experience. you can buy and refill growlers and you can even buy some bomber very reasonable.
