Great place back in 2012-2013 but I hear it has fallen off and lots of new places have opened since. Probably still a great place to pop in and find randoms and rareities you may not find elsewhere in town. Typically they have one beer "expert" on staff, so if they're around you'll be in luck. Otherwise it's a great little locally owned natural store worth checking out.

Interesting natural foods market that has an extensive beer section.Selection is good, though not 500 varieties. Singles are available of most everything they sell. Prices are average to high average. Workers are friendly (and cute), but not necessarily knowledgeable. Probably one of the better Jacksonville choices.

A small grocery store with limited parking, beer area is well payed out. Service is friendly but probably not super knowledgeable with beer. Prices were decent. Another stud spot to grab some bottles while in town.

When I visited: Late March 2014. What I bought: Cigar City Humidor Series IPA, Invasion Pale Ale , and Hopped On The High Seas - Kohatu, Baird Kurofune Porter, Goose Island The Illinois IIPA, Bear Republic Big Bear Black Stout, Intuition Ale Works People’s Pale Ale, Coronado & Cigar City Jurata Baltic Porter, and Bold City Mad Manatee IPA. What I liked: Redonkulous, well-organized selection from a wide range of countries, fair prices, beer guy was very helpful in making recommendations, lots of free parking out back, enjoyed some cream sodas on the patio. What I disliked: Checkout staff weren’t too friendly and a few of the offerings were way past due, but overall this is a great beer store. Would I go back? For sure. Grassroots is a destination in Jacksonville. Overall Rating: 82

Natural foods store in Jacksonville with a very nice beer selection; a bit surprising for a health food store. Three row of shelving contain bombers, six packs and a wall of singles. I was passing through Jax and loaded up on a number of singles that I can’t get up in GA. The selection was atypical. There were many beers on the shelves that I was not familiar with. I think if I lived in Jacksonville, I’d end up spending a lot of money here. I can’t really comment on the service, it was a busy Sunday, their folks were busy and I was content to browse the selection. They were friendly enough at the checkout counter. If you are in this area and looking for beer, also check out Beer :30; it’s very close by. These places are different enough and close enough to one another to justify stopping into both. Anyway, Grassroots is a cool place and worth checking out.

Amazing place all-round. Grassroots is a compact "whole-foods/health foods" type store located in central Jacksonville. Beer selection is amazing! About 500ish beers with a focus on quality, highly-rated and somewhat obscure beers. There are a decent amount of places with larger selections of beer than this, but not of this quality. Lots of sour stuff to keep me occupied. Personal service from non-other than drowland! Couldn’t have been better really. A must visit!

What a place: for hard-to-find beer, first class "whole" foods and more. For it’s size, small to small-medium, this store has the best selection/variety of craft beer in North Florida. The beer section manager drowland is a serious beer selector with first hand knowledge of practically every example. If he doesn’t have it, he’ll tell you where to find it if still available. It’s a great pleasure to shop here and recommend it to any beer-traveler going through JAX!

This place is fantastic. Wonderful variety, lots of excellent breweries, extremely good prices. I visited here during RBWG 2013. Grassroots sponsored the event and overall the place just seems fantastic. The people who work there are friendly and helpful. Aside from the beer the market has tons of great food on offer. If you’re in Jacksonville this spot is a must-visit.

Visited here on my way to Jax beach, the sunday after the RBWG grand tasting. Hungover as shit from a 2pm-430am tasting, the juice and smoothie bar was more than welcome. Got a few italian sour fruit beers, a water, and a smoothie and was on my way. Beer selection is killer, thanks to Dr. Owl. ALso, their were hot young ladies everywhere I wish I didn’t have to leave. Very granola, would fit well in my town.

A locally owned whole foods type place with an awesome beer selection thanks to drowland. Friendly staff that knows their stuff and can help you when needed. Beer selection is pretty superb considering the space allotted. Solid pricing and even some steals (like Oaked Hoppy Monster for $4.99 a 4 pack). A great bottle shop tucked inside an organic grocery store.
