72 We visited Het Spiegelbeeld later in the day on Thursday 28th September 2017 as we were off to see a gig by J.Bernardt at the Effenaar which is just a couple of minutes walk away. Het Spiegelbeeld is close to the railway station and looking at the map on RB it is close to one or two other places and the centre of town is a very short walk away. Het Spiegelbeeld has more of a food focus, they may let you just have a beer, however we had planned to eat here before the gig and so did both. It being a pleasant autumnal day we decided to sit outside under the awning and ate our meal out here, the food which was sort of Tapas focused was fine and reasonably priced. The beer list was very good for a place that appears to have more of a food focus, I had Jopen / Birrificio Lambrate Smoke'n Magic but such was the selection I could quite easily have found a few others that would have been new to me. I never ventured inside so I cannot really comment on how big or what it looks like, though viewing from the outside I would imagine that it is fairly modest sized and looking at the reviews below there is a bar that you can sit at. I thought the service was good and staff friendly, I think I would pop in here for a beer if in the area. |
68 Nice place, close to the trainstation. Beer list is decent, including a few local beers. Nothing too exciting. |
80 Visited again during Saturday December 12, 2015. Was in there 3 times during evening and night. Attended a festival once more at the Effenaar, so easy to just stop in for a bottle of beer and two in between bands. Fast and friendly service. Taps wasn’t that interesting for me personally, but managed to find plenty of bottles that were new to me. Only did see the one bottle fridge, not sure where they keep the rest if the do have more. No problems paying by credit card. WiFi is available when asking for it, not obvious which one it is though and you need the pw from the bar. More of a resturant place where you may also sit by the bar. Cosy enough, nice service. Happy I returned! Could see myself visiting again for sure! Very centrally located close to the central station and what seems to be a bar/restaurant street. Not crowded, but plenty of ppl visiting each time I went in there. Still have not eaten here. Once one of my friends went with me and asked for cider or non beer drinks, but was told they had none. Visited during the evening of Saturday December 13, 2014. Busy but not crowded. I was at an event at the Effenaar, so just steps away to go for a few beers in between bands I wanted to see. Very central, very close to the train station. Had two different bottles beers, fairly nice selection of beers I hadn’t had before. Nice fast service. Certainly a place I’d go back to! |
80 Visited in 2013. The guy serving beer was very friendly and interested in beer. We ended up chatting about beer for quite a while. Very enthusiastic and gave great service. Mostly belgian beer but I found a couple of interesting dutch beers. |
66 A fairly new place close to the train station. It’s a restaurant but also has a bar where you can drink a beer. The owner is really enthousiastic which makes a visit very pleasant. He knows more than the macro stuff but guess is still learning from the micro stuff. Nevertheless a friendly, smiling and enthousiastic owner. The beers they have, as they say it, are more than 125 beers to choose from, they are kind of regular with some better things here and there. We were lucky to get the serious last 2 glasses from Christophel Dry Hopped beer from their tap. They have a frost tap, a pils tap and a Weisse, Karmeliet and Kwak tap and a rotating tap. Guess thay had/will have more taps (in the future). Lots of typical Belgian beers, nothing rare. Didn’t had the food, though it smelled good. Guess the list of beers is somewhat average, choosing something from the beer list to go with your food is pretty good. Adding the cosy atmosphere, it’s very nice. Beer prices are normal to just a little bit higher. Will be back for sure! |
