C’est pas le plus bel endroit de la terre, ça ressemble à un bar pour étudiants fauchés, mais vu le prix des biéres, c’est pas pour les étudiants fauchés en fait. Et puis le barman, bon ben il est direct!

Cheap (for Paris), down-to-earth, local bar. No exotica, but all the classics, often served in the correct glassware. The whole La Trappe gang is there, a rarity in France. Regular draught beer is the perfectly acceptable Bavik at €2.50 and for a bit more you get Cuvee des Trolls or Petrus. There is always a guest draught. The front room is bit spartan but the back parlour is more cosy. The barman is very friendly and works his arse off all alone, so don’t moan if he sneaks the odd crafty fag You can always go to Starbucks. It’s not an open invitation to light up either. To soak up the booze there are cheese and charcuterie platters and a hot-dog machine (never seen this used). This is a relaxed place and there is no pressure to buy.

The tap selection is very limited (only 4 taps), but they have over 100 bottles including most of the Trappist beers. The bottles are well priced (5-6 euro vs 8+ in other places). Dive bar atmosphere with 2 TVs and supposedly they have live music every so often. Somewhat off-the-radar; I learned about it from a friend in Paris. Definitely recommended, great place to hang out and enjoy some awesome beer!
