Normally a big fan of Y&J Had a Work dinner with 20+ people tonight. Came back with drinks from the bar and found that everyone was paying their meals. Joined the paying queue and was the last to pay. The total bill had been between $400-$500 and the only outstanding items were my meal and an unpaid fish & chips. I have an Entertainment Card discount card which enables the member 25% off the TOTAL bill at Y&J. With a maximum discount of $40. When shown to the Restaurant Manager I was offered a discount of -25% off the OUTSTANDING BILL only of $56 which is a $14 discount. I advised the staff member this is unacceptable, and a member of security was brought to me to encourage me to pay the amount proposed. Through negotiation the TOTAL amount outstanding (including the Fish n Chips) was $56 reduced to $28. With no other option & to settle the bill. The amount was settled & paid. Not the right outcome, but a better one then initially offered. Via email that evening I received a message that a Co-worker had received a call from the Y&J that there was an outstanding meal that had not been paid, a Fish & Chips meal. Which unbeknownst to him I believed I had settled. The co-worker unknowingly paid the previously agreed & paid item of a further $23 via credit card. After reading the message I contacted the Hotel and wanted to clarify with the responsible staff member this evening. Instead spoke to Amy the Hotel Manager who did not want me to converse with the relevant “restaurant manager”… For the record the Restaurant Manager was approx. 5’8 with a shaved head and in late 30’s. Y&J believed the issue was settled and no further action was required. Pity the management staff caused the nice evening to end it the way they did. Total Bill approx. $450 Entertainment Book Discount entitled $40 Total discount provided by Y&J with Entertainment Book .. $5.00 GENERAL RULES WHEN USING YOUR ENTERTAINMENT MEMBERSHIP (RELEVANT SECTIONS) 8) 25% OFF DINING OFFERS The restaurant will deduct 25% off the total bill for the table, up to the maximum value indicated on the offer. If multiple Cards / Vouchers / Digital Memberships are used, the deduction is still 25% off the total bill, up to the maximum combined value of the Cards / Vouchers / Digital Memberships.

Prior to this visit I'd last been in here in 1986. They've done OK here - it's an iconic location and should just serve the current of people that passes. And it's a friendly enough space with a few decent beers on tap (if downstairs, check both sides of the island bar). You'll be passing.

Iconic, historic pub opposite Flinders Street station. Usually heaving downstairs so I usually go upstairs (there are different beers on upstairs). Always something worth trying up there. A great place to people watch or sit at a window watching the trams.

Across the street from Flinders Station, so centrally located. Iconic pub with long history, different rooms. Sports on TV. Decent selection also a house beer.

A place to visit at least once - an iconic pub right in the busy part of Melbourne but the Y&J beers I had I felt were somewhat expensive. Usually has a good range of tap beers, often with a craft brewer take-over (4 Pines in one bar on this visit). If the downstairs bars are busy there’s always Chloe upstairs.

Iconic Australian pub in an iconic location.Downstairs usually full, upstairs home to Jules Joseph Lefebvre’s naughty painting of Chloe. I always visit Chloe’s when in Melbourne and they always have a beer I’ve never tried. Hideously expensive so I always get a seat at the window watching the trams!

Have been here a few times over the years and always happy to return. They have a good selection of crafts as well as some decent food on offer too. It can get busy but that’s to be expected given the location. Well worth a visit if in the area.

Came here on 28.2.2016. The pub is located in a traditional and old building very close to Flinder’s street Rail station. It is a huge pub with several rooms and a large TV screen. Very nicely decorated using a lot of dark wood. They are serving 30 Australian beers, mostly from craft breweries and 3 ciders. I had Citra’N’ella Saison from Two Birds and two IPA’s from the Feral brewery. The Saison was tapped far too cold. Bar tender did not have a lot of knowledge about the beers he is selling. Overall a good Australian Pub with a large beer selection but without any beer passion.

Iconic Melbourne pub in the heart of the city. Good selection on tap, however I was there during Good Beer Week, so not sure what the tap list is like normally. Friendly staff and good service.
