Liberty Orange Sachet Sour
Can. Unclear orange with no head. Doesn't smell quite like Tang - maybe a little bit of wheat cracker too. Moderately sour with lots of orange. Refreshing for a couple of mouthfuls but a whole can is a lot.

Liberty Prohibition Porter
2022 version is 12%. Apparently NZ had some close calls with prohibition - didn't know that. Bottle from their Melbourne taproom. Black, fading brown head retreat to the rim but then perseveres. Big mocha and Bourbon aroma with blackberry reduction, vanilla. Silky, medium low carbonation. Very rich with lots of of chocolate and berries, less but still lots of roast, some pine, firm bitterness. Very good but perhaps a bit suffocating.

Liberty Juice Bro!
Can from their Melbourne taphouse. Moderately hazy orange with a fluffy white head that settles to a cm or so. 3+ Aroma of pineapple, mandarin, some Meyer lemon. Softish texture and initially juicy but with a firmly bitter finish. Nice one.

Liberty Jungle Juice
Can from their Melbourne Taproom (now _that's_ an interesting development). Fairly hazy orange with a good inch of white head. Loads of passionfruit in the aroma with pineapple and oranges, crackers. Very sweet with lots of breakfast juice-like fruit before bitterness struggles to charge through at the end. I would have traded a little of the fruit for a bit drier and bitterer end but it's good stuff.

Liberty Divine Wind
330ml can from School of Animals, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear yellow golden blonde colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is malt, lager yeast, light citrus. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a somewhat light, smooth, malt, yeasty, light melon mango, light woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. One of the few lagers that I could drink regularly. A little light on the bitterness, but those subtle fruit flavours and smooth finish make Divine Wind very easy to drink.

Pint at Portsider in Port Chalmers. Hoppy oatmeal stout, nose is roasty coffee with light chocolate. Black with a medium, heavy lacing tan head. Flavor is like 90% dark chocolate, lots of bitter with only a light bit of sweetness. Good thing I love chocolate above 60%!

440ml can. Pours a bright gold with small amounts of white head. Mild malty nose with hints of biscuit and pine. Medium body with an efflorescent carbonation. A huge aggressive forward which has restrained acidity. A soft malt start which has intense hop bitterness and I would almost say hop burn. Pine, grass, hints of green matter and muted white fruits.

440ml can. Pours a pinky pale orange with a hint of white head. Aroma of berries, ice cream & mild sour beer. Beer is medium bodied with a full, smooth mouth feel. The raspberry flavour is good, no fake flavour & the lactose gives a nice creamy texture. Mild vanilla finish. Good balance between the sweetness & sour. One of the best milkshake sours I have had.

Liberty Citra Double IPA
Poured a hazy radiant amber with dense slightly yellow head that lasted very well. Aroma sweet of mixed citrus, passion fruit, grapefruit, slight note of rind. Where the aroma is approachable, taste is a mountainous in scale. An incredible strength of flavour perfectly balances the three elements; sweet predominates then moving to a balance of sour and bitter, with none overpowering the other... all rounded out by big alcohol. I can feel the chest hairs growing. Heavy body, full mouthfeel, finish has no end. This brew so glorious I may have to start believing in the devine.

Liberty Darkest Days Oatmeal Stout
500ml bottle. Pours a deep black with minimal tan head that does not last. Aroma is dark or burnt malt. Medium body this has none of the smoothness of an oatmeal stout & despite the label saying this is not about the hops, the bitterness from the hops is ever present here. For me this is not balanced so I am with Pdubyah on this stout. Good, if you like a fair dollop of bitter in your oatmeal stout. Not my pick of the stouts.

BB 11/12/2021. from a can poured a clouded yellow-amber (looks like pineapple juice) with 2cm of white open foam that retained very well and laced well. Carbonation high, lively and fine to medium. Aroma subtly and softly of tropical fruits (pineapple). Taste is slight mixed tropical fruits; juicy; low to moderate bitterness. Light to medium body. Smooth, crisp, clean and slightly dry with a medium-length finish.

Can. Opaque orange with a towering white head. Unusual citrus aroma - pink grapefruit but pithy and earthy- lighter tropical bubblegum, crackers, A bit too fizzy. Fruity but dryish with some spice and resin towards a finish that’s both a little bitter and astringent. As it sometimes goes, hop aromatics appeal more in the aroma but don’t sit so comfortably once you start drinking. But good.

Liberty Halo Pilsner
330ml bottle. Pour a pale gold with a hint of green. Small white head. Mainly grass & hops on the nose. Medium body with the hint of caramel malt sweetness they talk about but this is all about the bitter hops overlay. It's not the big thick tropical hazy IPA hoppiness more the traditional bitter type. I could taste the bitterness for 20 mins after half a glass. Horses for courses but miles from my ideal Pils..

Liberty Prohibition Porter
330ml bottle. Pours deep black with a very modest tan head. Aroma is frankly amazing: like the best rich fruit cake you have ever had plus bourbon. It is medium to full bodied & tastes great; multilayered with fruit cake, chocolate, bourbon, plus some spice & vanilla. the sweetness & bitterness are well balanced, this is not one of those "pastry" beers were the main attraction is ABV & sugar. Simply one of the best imperial stouts or porters I have drunk. Stunning

10/11/20. Can. 410ml. Poured into glass. I love Citra Hop, and think it helps a lot of beers in combination with Mosiac/Simcoe etc - so nice to just try a Double IPA, but single Hop with this. On the nose - citrus and pine as expected. Some dankness to it. Big lemon hit and minimal carbonation. Rounds out with some biscuity malt. I really enjoyed the single hop experience with Citra. I dont think anyone would necessarily reach for a second in the same evening, but enjoyable and would drink again. Definitely going to take this as inspiration for my next homebrew session and throw Citra into the mix.

Bought from Grape and Grain. 440ml can into tulip glass. Yikes - hops, lots of em. Without the backing of malt it is pretty in your face. Always wanted this in terms of massive hop bill with lager/Pilsner malting. All in all, nice - better later through it when it warmed up and got more white bread/basic Pilsner malt taste coming through to support it. I liked it - would drink again, just not in succession - 8.0% knocks it into one off category!

330 mL bottle six-pack from Countdown. I've had it before but must have forgotten to rate it here. Amber gold, good lacing. Hoppy aroma but this is a very well balanced beer, between malty and hoppy. Relatively low ABV of 5.1% means it's also pretty sessionable. Another solid effort from Liberty.

Disclaimer: I've a bit of a headcold and my tastebuds might be a bit biased from a big hazy IIPA before This is a bit... disappointing? High rating, but nowhere near as good as knife party which is bloody awesome. 330 mL can from Liquorland Upper Hutt. Pours amber gold, very small head but it pretty much all stays. Nose isn't that hoppy, more malty. Average. Next time, go for Knife Party.
