Northdown / Beer Here - Victoria's Secret Single Hop Wheat
Pours a light cloudy golden with fine white head.

Nose is lemony, slight grapefruit, strawberry, banana.

Taste is more lemon, grapefruit, some pine and a bit of sweetness from the malts

Overall not too bad. This bottle is now around 10 months old, so the hop aroma and flavour have surely diminished. Regardless, this is a decent beer and I’m looking forward to more things with Vic Secret in them, as the flavour profile is nice.

Northdown / Beer Here - Ryefix Single Hop Rye Ale
First hit of aroma is of a warm and very alcoholic brandy pudding, or some-such. That subsides a bit and its more Xmas cakey, a slightly spicy (nutmeg and black pepper?) Xmas cake sweating in a tupperware box on the back seat of the Holden in the hot NZ Xmas. A faint hint of cardamom, just for a second. Taste is more well balanced than the aroma suggests. The alcohol is a warmth in the finish preceded by a spicy medium bitterness. a light sourness runs backwards on the outskirts of your tongue which seems to help spread the initially dense flavour into a workable sheen. Definite black pepper at the finish. I’m not sure if this is an IPA? But it is a nice beer, interesting and stimulating and warming.

Slick, oily and pungent. Deep brown in colour, thick head lifting resinous hop aroma high. Nicely malted, feels full in the mouth, allowing the oily hop resins to float and linger into the aftertaste. Hops are front and centre here; it’s a bit of a one trick pony, but it does that trick well.

330ml Bottle. Pours a wonderful hazy golden, straw colour. Nice bold citrusy, fruity aroma. Has a subtle fruity taste and strong finishing bittterness. A slight wheat flavour present too. Medium mouthfeel and quite a dry, almost a hint of alcohol at the finish. Not exactly what i was expecting, but would def recommend getting a bottle to try.

The picture of a classic weissbier in the glass. Two fingers of rocky white foam atop a cloudy, sandy yellow. Aroma is dominated by bitter orange and grapefruit with a hint of strawberry and watermelon; very fresh and fruity. All hops; it has a peaking bitterness on the swallow that is lasting. Featherweight in body only heightened by the muddy yeast which gives it texture. Light touch of wheat under more fruit esters that have a sourness and tight acidity. Felt the 6.0%, a little wobbly after just one bottle which was strange. Pretty straightforward stuff. The wheat beer side of it completely lost amongst the hops. Refreshing, just not challenging. (33cL, no date stamp, Mane Liquor, Belmont)

prob my new fav beer. tried in bottle from swords select. very hoppy and fruity - passionfruit and pineapple, without the spiceness i dislike in wheat beers. morish. wasnt a fan of the appearance though. but i guess taste and aroma are the most impotant and they were extremely impressive!!

330ml bottle from Slow Beer. A bit more colour to this wheat beer than most others as it pours a heavy amber colour with a thick head of off white foam rather than fluffy pure white foam. There is a lot going on in the aroma with plenty of grapefruit and passionfruit. Full bodied with a hoppy taste and resinous aftertaste. There is no reason to keep this beer secret in Victoria or anywhere else.

On tap at Cookied. Great character. Aromas of tropical fruit, caramel, apple, hint of nuts. Taste is bitter, long length. Palate is velvety, medium body. Dark yellow, with a frothy head.

Lovely hazy gold colour, white head. Fruit aroma, wheaty. Bitter wheat flavour - is that a touch of pepper? Nice, leaves a sort of tart, dry after taste. Pretty good, I like.

Bottle, 8C. Hazy gold with a white head. Smells like grapefruit juice. Maybe a little wheat, pepper and chile too, but big on grapefruit. Thinnish body with slight breadiness. Fairly high carbonation. Taste has just a touch of tropical fruit and light bread, lots of grapefruit and some spices. One track, but very refreshing indeed.

Bottle from maneliquor. Pours a golden with a nice white head. Citrus, pine and nutmeg in the nose. Taste has a citrus hop bitterness. Quite carbonated making the hops explode on to the palate. Bitterness isnt really there due to the over carbonation. Solid beer

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours bright orange with a small white head leaving some solid lacing. Nose is cloves, nutmeg, pine and citrus. Quite spicey. Taste is very clove forward with heavy, sweet spice with citrus hoppage throughout. Finish is dry. Palate is quite carbonated which helps it flow. Solid beer for a style that I’m not usually keen on

Pours hazy amber. Nose shows lemon, papaya, grassy and spicy hops. Pretty interesting variety. Big spicy and grassy hops as flavours too, along with some solvent-like booze. Some doughy wheat underneath. Carbonation is over the top.
