I’m one of those who is prone to rate beers a little on the high side, because I’ve always liked beer. The craft beer movement has opened my eyes just like everyone else’s who have eyes that will open. My greatest discovery in the last few years is British style Barley Wine. That’s probably because of my prior (and current) appreciation of Port Wine. It’s hard to beat a well crafted vintage port. It is likewise hard to beat a well crafted vintage barley wine.
My suspicion (actually more of a reality) is that there are those out there who would usurp this great beer movement that I have been enjoying. I hope all of you fellow craft beer aficionados will help prevent the usurpers from taking us back to ’The Dark Ages’ and heed the words of another well crafted and vintage individual:
"Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never. In nothing great or small, large or petty. Never give in, except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy." W. Churchill
As far as I am concerned, the great post prohibition beer monopolies are part of the past. I can’t believe that they duped me for so long.
